We had an incredible visit yesterday from a group from El Salvador, the home country of our patron, St. Oscar Romero.

One visitor was a priest who attended many of St. Romero’s masses and speeches. In fact, he was ordained a priest just nine days after St. Romero was martyred in 1980.

We had the opportunity to listen to his talk on St. Romero and the memories he had of following him throughout his life and through seminary.

St. Romero is revered throughout Central America, and we were blessed to have our new friends from El Salvador, along with St. Francis Assisi Church of Marshalltown, visiting our mission.

St. Romero was the voice of the voiceless, standing up for the poor and oppressed, and we are proud to have our mission named after him.
