Tuesday was a meaningful day for Hope Lives Here and our community.
We had the honor of attending the City Hall meeting where the City officially proclaimed June as PTS Awareness Month. This proclamation helps shine a light on the challenges faced by so many Veterans and civilians living with Post-Traumatic Stress, while encouraging understanding, education, and support throughout our community.
A special thank you goes to Carol Orr , one of our dedicated employees, who worked tirelessly with the City to help make this proclamation a reality. Carol's passion for serving others comes from a deeply personal place. Her son, James Miller, left a lasting impact on countless lives, and it is his legacy that inspired the creation of the James E. Miller Award. We are grateful for Carol's commitment to ensuring that awareness, support, and hope continue to reach those who need it most.
At Hope Lives Here, we see every day how Post-Traumatic Stress affects the lives of the Veterans we serve. Through the life-changing bond between a Veteran and a service dog, we witness healing, renewed confidence, and restored purpose. Today's proclamation is another important step in bringing awareness to these invisible wounds and reminding those who are struggling that they are not alone.
We are grateful to the Mayor, City Council, and everyone involved in recognizing the importance of PTS awareness. Together, we can continue breaking down stigma, fostering understanding, and helping more individuals find hope and healing.
