The Texas Statewide Behavioral Health Coordinating Council is conducting a Statewide Mental Health and Substance Use Service Needs Assessment Survey to better understand community needs, service gaps, workforce challenges, and opportunities to improve mental health and substance use services across Texas.

Your vital input is needed to help improve access to effective, timely, and high-quality mental health and substance use services. Feedback is being requested from individuals and communities across Texas that fall into any of the following categories:
• Mental health and substance use providers
• Adults who have received services
• Parents or caregivers of children or youth receiving services
• Community members

Participation is voluntary, and all responses will remain confidential and reported only in aggregate form. The survey takes approximately 5–8 minutes to complete.

For those affected by the evacuations of the Lavender Fire affecting Oldham and Potter Counties:

There is an evacuation center set up at theThe Church at Bushland.

All resources are coordinating with the organizers there for needs of those affected.

Anyone affected by the fires is asked to fill out an iStat Damage Survey and indicate what their needs are so that resources may coordinate to fulfill them.

Grateful for strong partners like Panhandle Ahec to provide mental health education, collaboration and resources in the Texas Panhandle!

Panhandle Ahec and the Panhandle Behavioral Health Alliance recently partnered to host "Supporting Frontier Communities in Mental Health" in Borger, Texas.

The event brought together 81 participants from Hutchinson County and the wider Texas Panhandle to focus on improving local mental health through education, collaboration, and resource sharing.

Sessions covered topics such as brain development, su***de prevention, substance use, and Mental Health First Aid. Attendees also explored practical tools like W.R.A.P. and Lego Build 4 Change.

Community members, healthcare professionals, and organizations came together to explore practical ways to support mental wellness in rural areas.

One participant shared, “I’ve attended mental health conferences in Austin, but having this in my home county meant everything. I’m grateful for the opportunity to connect with local providers and bring new ideas back to our community.”
