As part of our efforts to address access to care issues and provider shortages, we are offering a brief seminar Exploring Private Practice Your Way on Friday, October 16, 2026, 10 am to 2 pm, in Amarillo for new/upcoming clinicians that are interested in exploring private practice to deliver behavioral health clinical services in the region.

This event will feature information and tips from three experienced behavioral health clinicians in private practice and what they have learned along the way. The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) will also share their information and best practices around small business ownership.

Space is limited and registration is required. Please share with your networks as needed.

The Panhandle Regional Planning Commission is hosting a public hearing to discuss the 2027-2031 Regional Public Transportation Coordination Plan (RPTCP). The public hearing will provide an opportunity to review the planning activities from the previous cycle and discuss how they will be carried forward or adapted for inclusion in the 2027-2031 plan. It will also provide an additional opportunity to connect with communities and provide public comments on the draft plan.

The meeting is at 6 PM tonight at 415 SW 8th Avenue in Amarillo.

The Texas Statewide Behavioral Health Coordinating Council is conducting a Statewide Mental Health and Substance Use Service Needs Assessment Survey to better understand community needs, service gaps, workforce challenges, and opportunities to improve mental health and substance use services across Texas.

Your vital input is needed to help improve access to effective, timely, and high-quality mental health and substance use services. Feedback is being requested from individuals and communities across Texas that fall into any of the following categories:
• Mental health and substance use providers
• Adults who have received services
• Parents or caregivers of children or youth receiving services
• Community members

Participation is voluntary, and all responses will remain confidential and reported only in aggregate form. The survey takes approximately 5–8 minutes to complete.

For those affected by the evacuations of the Lavender Fire affecting Oldham and Potter Counties:

There is an evacuation center set up at theThe Church at Bushland.

All resources are coordinating with the organizers there for needs of those affected.

Anyone affected by the fires is asked to fill out an iStat Damage Survey and indicate what their needs are so that resources may coordinate to fulfill them.
