7 Star Therapeutic Riding Center

Our Vision: To facilitate healing of the mind, body, and spirit through the grace and strength of the horse. The gait of the horse mimics that of a human.

7 Star serves clients with many types of disabilities including: ADHD-ADD, autism, Down’s Syndrome, CP, MS, MR, MD, Traumatic Brain Injury, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, amputees, Rett Syndrome, visually and hearing impaired, etc. We also serve veterans experiencing a range of physical and psychological disabilities. Therapeutic Riding provides an alternative form of therapy that cannot be obtai

ned through conventional therapy. Through the motion of the horse, clients develop core muscle strength, and stimulation of brain patterns, which improves balance and coordination. Clients learn to concentrate and focus on riding, which helps with sequencing, and learning to follow oral instructions. Equine Assisted Psychotherapy or "EAP" uses horses in the therapeutic process instead of traditional “talk” therapy. The horse helps the client understand how personal behavior and attitude affects those around us. Once clients understand the things they are responsible for in a relationship, they learn to modify their behavior in order to improve the bond with the horse. These changes are then applied to their life in the real world with spouses, co-workers, children and other more complex human interactions. Clients develop a bond with the horse, which provides the motivation to be successful in life.

Extraordinary moments - This morning I had the pleasure of feeding the horses. This is something I normally do not do. As I finished up feeding the sun came over the horizon. I have always loved the way the sunlight touches everything in a golden hue so I took some pictures. I could not see the 'wings' when I took these pictures but when I pulled the pictures up on my phone to look at them, they were only in a few shots. Just a reminder of the beauty that surrounds us every day and the blessings that touch us. 7 Star has been very blessed to do the work we do. We make a difference in so many lives.
We are asking for anyone that can please donate so we can continue to change lives. All of our clients have scholarship funds applied so they can afford sessions. We are in need of more funds to help pay those scholarships. Please consider becoming a monthly donor. We will work with anyone to facilitate a donation in whatever way works best. Even a one time donation helps.

Let's be honest. I have struggled with what to post for 7 Star. I have seen all the other highlight reels. Well, we have our highlights and celebrations but most days it is the quiet moment in the morning that is just peaceful and sweet or the hectic pace of keeping the everything working as it should. So that is what I will be sharing here. The daily moments that make 7 Star. The laughter and the tears, the great victories and the struggles, the small moments of what am I doing? This is about connection and making every day count for those that we help. So Happy Monday everyone!!!!!

Another beautiful day at 7 Star. Our Therapeutic Riding sessions are in need of volunteers for side-walkers. Tuesdays at 3:30, 4:30, 5:30, and 6:30. Thursdays at 4:30, 5:30, and 6:30. Sessions are an hour long. Volunteers need show up fifteen minutes before the session and can do one or more sessions. Please call or text (806)316-2473 for more information.

At 7 Star we had a visit from Wicket the Ewok. He wants everyone to know to volunteer at 7 Star for fun and helping out makes everyone feel good.
Therapeutic riding sessions are on Tuesdays at 3:30, 4:30, 5:30, and 6:30. Thursdays at 4:30, 5:30, and 6:30. We need three volunteers for each client. Please text or call (806)-316-2473 for more information.

Open House - Annual Meeting. April 24th at 6 pm 4753 S FM 1258 (Pullman Rd) Come help us celebrate and help us grow!
