Be My Neighbor Day! (2026)

Be My Neighbor Day is a fun and free community event inspired by “Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood” on PBS KIDS! Bring the whole family for a day of crafts and activities sure to make you feel GRR-IFIC! This event will celebrate the importance of being a caring neighbor and we cannot wait to see you there!

Activities will include:
Draw a picture for a Hero!
Build with Legos!
Make your own bracelet!
Temporary tattoos!
Story time!
And more!
You will also have the opportunity to meet local emergency responders!

Moms, I just want to take a moment to say thank you. To every mom who has fostered or adopted a child—you are doing holy, hard, and beautiful work.

There are days when you may wonder if what you’re doing is making a difference. Days when the exhaustion feels heavy, when the progress feels slow, or when the love you pour out doesn’t seem to come back right away. But please hear this: your love matters more than you know.

Every bedtime story, every doctor’s appointment, every prayer whispered over a hurting child, every moment of patience when it would be easier to give up—it matters. You are giving children something they may have never truly had before: safety, stability, and unconditional love.

You are not just raising children. You are helping heal hearts. You are showing kids that they are wanted, valued, and worthy of love. That kind of impact lasts a lifetime.

And even when the journey is messy or painful, do not grow weary in doing good. Keep fighting the good fight. Keep showing up. Keep loving fiercely. The seeds you are planting today may take years to fully bloom, but they are growing.

So to every mom in this stage: we here at GAFPA see you, we appreciate you, and think you are doing a good job. The work you do is changing lives, one child at a time.

Friends, if you have kiddos who are struggling right now or your family is going through a hard season, I wanted to share an amazing free resource in our area.

Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch Community-Based Services program offers professional support to families with children ages 4–17 who may be dealing with behavioral challenges, instability, or family stress. They focus on helping families stay safely together by providing parenting support, case management, crisis response, skill-building, and connections to helpful community resources.

Their goal is to strengthen families, build confidence, and create lasting positive change right at home.

Services are available within 100 miles of Amarillo. If your family or someone you know could use support, this may be worth looking into. ❤️

We are so thankful for our community that allows us to provide our families with a fun afternoon of ice skating at the Amarillo ice ranch and an enjoyable night cheering for the Amarillo Wranglers.
