HOODOO Artist Spotlight

Charney is a painter and muralist of abstract pattern works. She received her BFA in painting/drawing from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and has been living and working back in her hometown of Denver, Colorado since 2016. Her practice includes works on canvas, installation pieces, and indoor/outdoor murals on any scale (both in the private and public sector). Charney has exhibited in galleries and painted murals in the United States in Colorado, California, Illinois, Nebraska, Michigan, Missouri, , Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Florida, Alaska, Utah, Nebraska, and Texas and internationally in Costa Rica, France and England.

Charney’s optical paintings and murals are characterized by their expansive compositions, graphic dot patterning and dense detail. Through illusionistic deception, dynamic arrangements of detail and corresponding visual rhythms, Charney creates a sensational and immersive experience for the viewers of her paintings and installations. Using acrylic on canvas and aerosol on murals, she describes her illusionistic spaces and bending forms as “digital taffy”.

HOODOO Artist Spotlight

Christian Stanley is a Central Florida based artist that has lived in the Orlando area since graduating from the University of Central Florida in 2011 with a degree in graphic design. Born and raised in Stuart, Fl., Christian’s art is often influenced by his roots and love for the wildlife of the Southeast. From an early age Christian sought out natural settings for inspiration, and continues to enjoy hiking and wildlife spotting with his wife, Jessica.

The two met in 2017 and soon after formed C. Stanley Creative while painting a small electrical box as a part of a community art initiative. Since then Christian has gone on to paint dozens of murals a year with his largest project to date spanning over 8,000 square feet in size. He has taken his mural art talents across the United States and overseas to international street art festivals.

Christian’s street art work is known for its signature “dash and dot” style, which borders on impressionism to give his subjects depth and vibrant color. He has had the privilege of working with large national brands and local community arts organizations alike.

HOODOO Artist Spotlight

Megan Oldhues is a Toronto-based muralist and painter working at the intersection of classical realism and contemporary public art. Known for her large-scale impressionistic murals, Megan captures everyday life with a focus on intimacy, emotional resonance, and human connection. A self-taught artist with a foundation in classical drawing, Megan’s style is technically challenging and rare. As one of the few women in North America working in this painterly mural style at scale, Megan is committed to pushing the boundaries of contemporary public art and is currently pioneering a sketch style technique that uses textured brushes and brooms to create pieces that look like marker and brush sketches, all while maintaining an impressionistic energy.

Starting large-scale painting in 2015, Megan learned to work quickly and instinctively while producing unsanctioned murals in Toronto. Her early experience led to mentorship opportunities with some of the city’s top street artists and scenic painting work on major film and TV productions, including The Boys, Chucky, and Jack Reacher. These fast-paced environments sharpened her technical skill and affirmed her drive to pursue public-facing, emotionally rich work, which has grown into a prolific career of mural design and production across the globe.
Over the past 5 years, Megan has created murals in over seven countries, often working collaboratively with local tourism initiatives, open air museums, and with major cultural festivals.

Megan’s work is deeply community-driven, rooted in site-specific storytelling and visual empathy. From small canvases to multi-storey murals, her pieces offer viewers an opportunity to see themselves, and one another, through an inclusive and thoughtful lens.

HOODOO Artist Spotlight

The Los Angeles born artist and muralist, Egypt Hagan, has a creative style rooted in bold imagery and portraiture as a form of storytelling. "I believe each human carries a unique story, and I translate those narratives through vibrant colors, luminous golds, and powerful imagery rather than words. While much of my work focuses on portraiture, I often visit other topics and imagery, allowing me to expand the way stories are told and to reflect the diversity of inspiration in my journey. My paintings highlight people and moments that have shaped me, as well as untold stories that deserve to be seen and celebrated. By emphasizing the subject with an underlying vibrancy, I aim to create work that is visually striking and deeply meaningful."

Now based in Arizona, Egypt continues to expand her practice through large-scale mural projects, public commissions, and international exhibitions, remaining dedicated to creating art that connects communities and celebrates the shared human story.
