Andrea's Project Andrea's Project is about educating the community it’s not ok to drink and drive and it’s that easy to make alternate decisions if you are..

We had such a great time tonight at James Bowie Middle School’s Back-to-School Night! 💙📚

We had the opportunity to connect with hundreds of students, parents, and families, providing education and raising awareness about the dangers of impaired driving — all while sharing Andrea’s story and the reason behind our mission. 💙🤟

Every conversation is another opportunity to make a difference, encourage safer choices, and help prevent another family from experiencing a preventable loss.

Thank you, James Bowie Middle School, for welcoming Andrea’s Project and allowing us to be part of such a great night!

💙 It’s That Easy Not to Drive Impaired. 🤟

Today, we join our friends at the BeABlake Foundation in remembering Blake Rhone-Subinsky, five years after his life was taken by a drug-impaired driver on August 31, 2021.

Blake was only 32 years old. He was a son, brother, husband, daddy, and friend with so much life still ahead of him. In an instant, one person’s decision to drive impaired changed the lives of Blake’s family and everyone who loved him forever.

Out of an unimaginable loss, Blake’s mom and family chose to turn their grief into purpose, creating the BeABlake Foundation in his honor and working to prevent other families from experiencing the same devastating loss.

Andrea’s Project is incredibly grateful that our paths have connected. We now have the privilege of partnering with Blake’s mom and the BeABlake Foundation in our shared work to prevent impaired driving and save lives. Although none of us would have chosen the circumstances that brought our families and organizations together, there is something powerful about families impacted by impaired driving standing beside one another and turning the stories of those we love into action.

Blake’s story matters. Andrea’s story matters. And the ripple effect of impaired driving reaches far beyond a single crash.

Today, we remember Blake and the life he lived, we hold his family close, and we stand alongside them as they continue carrying his name and his story forward.

Five years later, Blake is still making an impact. 🧡

Five years ago, we got the call no family should ever have to receive.

August 31st changed our lives forever. We lost Blake, and in the midst of unimaginable grief, a mission began: to make sure his story could help prevent another family from experiencing the same loss.

Now, we continue to carry Blake with us in everything we do. Every conversation, every person reached, every life potentially saved—it’s all for him.

Celebrating this Labor Day???

Plan ahead before the celebration begins.

If alcohol or other substances are part of your weekend, choose your safe ride home now:

🚗 Designate a sober driver
📱 Use a rideshare service
🤝 Call a sober friend or family member
🏠 Stay overnight
🔑 Never let an impaired person drive

Any HIGH is a DWI. Alcohol, ma*****na, prescription medications, and other substances can all impair your ability to drive safely.

Don’t let your Labor Day weekend end in a crash ...... or in jail. Plan ahead. Drive sober. No regrets.

Thank you, Texas Department of Transportation, for helping remind Texans to make the safe choice this Labor Day weekend.

🚗 DRIVE SOBER. GET HOME SAFE.

A night out, a celebration, or “just a couple drinks” should never end in tragedy. Impaired driving is 100% preventable.

If you’re drinking—or using anything that could impair your ability to drive—make the decision about how you’re getting home before you ever leave.

Choose a sober driver.
Call a rideshare or taxi.
Use public transportation.
Stay where you are.
Call someone you trust.

There is always another option besides driving impaired.

And remember: impairment isn’t limited to alcohol. Prescription medications, ma*****na, and other substances can also affect judgment, reaction time, coordination, and your ability to drive safely.

One choice can save a life. Drive sober. Every trip. Every time. ❤️

Tonight was beautiful, fun, emotional, and filled with so many emotions that are hard to put into words.

Today would have been Andrea’s 25th birthday. She will forever be 17. Tonight, I had the opportunity to honor her by doing what has become such an important part of my life: sharing her story and educating others about impaired driving, the substances our kids have access to, and why prevention and education matter.

But tonight wasn’t only about sharing Andrea’s story. I also had the privilege of listening to the stories of others.

I heard from people who have lost someone they loved because of substances. I heard stories of recovery and overcoming addiction. I heard people openly share that during their addiction, there were many times they got behind the wheel impaired, something that could have ended in another tragedy.

There were incredible bands, powerful speakers, laughter, tears, connection, and remembrance.

Tonight ended with a candlelight vigil honoring those who have been lost to overdose. A song was played that brought me and so many others to tears. The message was simple but powerful: each person matters. Then, one by one, the names of those who have been lost were read aloud.

Every name was a person.
Every person was loved.
Every story mattered.

Andrea’s life ended through a different tragedy, but substances were involved. An impaired driver made a decision that changed our lives forever.

So today, on Andrea’s birthday, we remembered. We shared stories. We educated. We listened. We cried together. And we honored lives that should never be reduced to a statistic.

They are not forgotten.

Tonight was a reminder of why this work matters so much and why we have to keep talking about substance use, addiction, recovery, overdose, and impaired driving.

For Andrea.
For every name read tonight.
For every family carrying an empty space where someone they love should still be. ❤️

Forever 17. Forever remembered.

Forever 17. 💙

On August 22, we remember Andrea on what would have been her 25th birthday.

Andrea’s life was taken far too soon at just 17 years old because of an impaired driver. While she will forever be 17, her memory continues to live on through the love of her family and through the work of Andrea’s Project.

Today, we honor Andrea, remember her family, and ask our community to help keep her legacy alive.

In Andrea’s memory, make the commitment to never drive impaired and never let someone you love drive impaired.

If you would like to honor Andrea on her birthday and support the work being done in her memory, please consider making a donation to Andrea’s Project:

Forever 17. Forever loved. Forever remembered.

Please also keep the Elizalde family in your thoughts and prayers today. The loss of a child is never forgotten, and birthdays, milestones, and special days can carry a weight that never truly goes away.
