We are seeking a vibrant individual who loves to cook, clean and who has a heart for ministry.

It is a salaried position with hours primarily on the weekends with paid holidays, vacation time and sick leave. Full health benefits are included. The chef prepares the meals for the retreat groups that do not rent the kitchen to prepare their own food. If there is an event requiring a meal, the chef is working accordingly. However, there are also many weeks that there will not be any cooking (preparation and cleaning are done during this time) so it is possible to get the hours in during the regular work week. It is a somewhat flex schedule based on the retreat center schedule, which we know well in advance what is taking place.

Essential Duties: Responsible for managing kitchen operations and maintaining the dining room, including but not limited to the following:
Ensure kitchen and operations are in compliance with appropriate health codes (we have a certified kitchen)
Develop menus
Procure food and properly code receipts/invoices
Ensure efficient use of resources
Prepare breakfast, lunch and dinner for scheduled events
Manage kitchen staff including but not limited to:
Hire all kitchen staff with Executive Director approval
Ensure staff has appropriate certifications
Scheduling, assigning responsibilities, resolving employee conflicts
Develop procedures and checklists for kitchen and dining room
Maintain the dining room including but not limited to:
Tea and coffee service
Wiping down tables and counters after each meal
Sweeping after each meal
Mopping as needed
Refilling napkins, salt and pepper shakers, sugar, etc.
Cleaning the microwave and refrigerator at regular intervals
* (These could possibly be catered if you are not a professional chef) Prepare food for annual special events such as:
Evening for Married Couples – Valentine’s Day
Seder Meal fundraiser
TREAT Fundraiser
Christmas Luncheon

Pay will be based on experience. Food managers certification is required.
Flexibility, the ability to work well with a team, self-motivation and punctuality are a must.
The person needs to be in good standing with their church and be willing to be safe environment trained if not already done or current.

If interested, please send a resume with 3 references to Sister Elizabeth Ann at [email protected]. Verbal inquiries are welcome but only applicants who submit a resume with references will be considered for the position.

We have so many wonderful things happening at the retreat center. It never gets old seeing hearts and lives forever changed from their experiences at the retreat center. We are in need of 4 8ft plastic tables (preferably not the ones that fold in the middle because it is hard for people to take notes in that area where the crease is). Anyone willing and able to help? This is a link from Sam's but they could come from elsewhere. Thanks a million and one in advance!
