Why 3 today? Because we are celebrating our 3 newest moms, all of whom have joined Eveline’s Sunshine Cottage within the past few months!
America and her handsome little boy
America is beginning her journey in the Dental Hygiene Program at Amarillo College, and we are so excited to support her as she steps into this new chapter.
Ciara and her 2 beautiful girls
Ciara is working hard on her Nursing Degree at Amarillo College, balancing motherhood and education with courage and commitment.
Jayni and her 3 amazing girls
Jayni is also preparing to enter the Dental Hygiene Program, showing incredible drive to build a brighter future for her family.
Although we haven’t known these moms and their children as long as some of our other families, one thing is already clear: each of them carries the determination and heart it takes to be an amazing mother and a dedicated student. Eveline’s Sunshine Cottage can’t wait to walk alongside them—to love, support, and encourage them all the way to their college degrees.
At the Cottage, families are always at different stages of the journey—just moving in, getting your feet wet, learning to stand on your own two feet, becoming educated, serving as a role model for your children, and ultimately graduating into independent living.

Jazmine and her three incredible boys have lived at Eveline’s Sunshine Cottages since Christmas 2024—less than a year—and this amazing mom hasn’t slowed down for a moment. Jazmine is a true go-getter. She is working hard toward her dream of becoming a Registered Nurse, all while raising her active boys who keep her moving with their busy sports schedules. On top of that, she works a full-time job.

I can only imagine her evenings filled with studying, exams, and writing papers, yet she continues to push forward with determination and grace. We are so proud of Jazmine and cannot wait to celebrate the day she graduates from college.

Dawn and her three beautiful children have called Eveline’s Sunshine Cottage home since 2022. Dawn is preparing to take her Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor exam, and she isn’t stopping there—her goal is to earn her Master’s degree as a Licensed Professional Counselor.

Balancing life as a full-time student, working full-time, and raising three very active children is no small task. Yet Dawn still finds time to give back, helping with extra tasks around the cottages whenever she can. Her dedication, resilience, and servant heart make us incredibly proud.

Brigette and her five beautiful children have been part of Eveline’s Sunshine Cottage since 2023. This December, Brigette will proudly graduate with her Bachelor of Science in Social Work — but she’s not stopping there. This determined mom is already preparing to continue her education and earn her master’s degree.

Balancing life with five school-age children while completing a full-time internship at the Youth Center has been no small task, but Brigette remained committed to her goal: finishing her bachelor’s degree and walking across that stage. What an incredible example she is setting for her children! 💛

Eveline Rivers McCoy—founder, executive director, and full-time Cottage Mom—calls the moms in our program her heroes. She gives every bit of herself to the families at Eveline’s Sunshine Cottage, offering guidance, encouragement, and sometimes the tough advice that only a loving mom can give.

Eveline’s Sunshine Cottage exists to help homeless or hopeless single mothers and their children achieve a college degree—two generations at a time—lifting entire families off government assistance and into independence.

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, 30 mothers have already graduated, many with four-year degrees. Today, we’re beginning to see their children enter college as well—proof of the powerful ripple effect created when a mother becomes a role model through education.

Right now, 10 moms are actively pursuing their college degrees, and Eveline has no doubt they will all graduate. You can help make their success possible.

Ky began her journey with Eveline’s Sunshine Cottage in early 2024. Before arriving, she was stretched thin—working multiple jobs, attending school, trying to pay the bills, and hardly getting to see her children. She and her kids desperately needed a “break.”

Since moving into the cottages, Ky has been able to focus on being a full-time student in Amarillo College’s Dental Hygiene program, care for her home, and—most importantly—enjoy precious time with her children. Is it easy? Ky would be the first to say no. But she’s doing it, and we couldn’t be more proud of her determination.

Emily and her sweet children have called Eveline’s Sunshine Cottage home since 2023. In that time, she has checked off nearly every item on her “to-do list”—and she’s not stopping now. Emily is currently working on her Master’s Degree (yes, you read that right!) while still making time to be the BEST role model for her children.

Her oldest daughter is already following in her footsteps and is enrolled at Amarillo College. Emily is actively breaking generational poverty for her family, and we couldn’t be more proud of her dedication, courage, and achievements.
