Mission:
A safe place to promote the healing journey for grieving children, families, and individuals. Death is a hard subject.

Most people want to avoid it yet it is a 100% reality in life. Everyone must face the pain or fear of loss from death. The good news is, because of grief centers like The Hope & Healing Place no one has to face death’s aftermath alone. Help is available for healthy grieving. Grief can cripple individuals if not dealt with in a healthy manner. Children in particular have trouble understanding the f

lood of emotions that wash over them when someone close to them dies. If not dealt with effectively grief shows up in the lives of children in the form of depression, isolation, emotional outbursts, anger, failing grades, and substance abuse. Issues caused by unresolved grief stay with an individual throughout their lives manifesting in areas that rob peace. The Hope and Healing Place was founded on the belief that every child, teen and adult deserves the opportunity to grieve in a supportive and understanding environment. We believe that grief is a natural and normal reaction to the loss of a loved one. Though the duration and intensity of grief is unique for each individual, we believe each person has the natural ability to heal oneself.

🍽️ There’s always a seat at the table around here! From last weeks board meeting to this weekends facilitator training.

Tonight, we are ready to welcome our newest facilitators! ❤️💙💛

You may not realize what goes into becoming a facilitator. Before they ever sit across the table from someone who is grieving, our facilitators complete 20 hours of training designed to help them understand grief, listen well, and create a safe place for others.

This weekend they’ll learn about the many things that shape grief, explore our grief model, talk about how to support someone who is hurting, learn facilitator tips and guidelines, work through activities and interventions, and even talk about the importance of caring for themselves along the way.

But it’s not all sitting in a classroom.

They’ll hear from facilitators who have been doing this work for years. They’ll hear from past participants who know firsthand what it feels like to walk through grief in a group. They’ll share a memory item representing someone significant in their own lives. And they’ll have conversations that remind us that grief isn’t just something we study, it’s something we experience.

One of their assignments is to interview someone in their life about the death of a significant person. Another is to spend time learning about grief and the support services available to those who are hurting.

Because we believe you don’t simply learn how to facilitate grief, you learn how to sit with people.

We’re so grateful for these new facilitators who have said yes to serving others in one of life’s hardest seasons.

Get ready, Amarillo! The Big Cheese: A Harvest of Hope is coming Saturday, October 24, 2026, and this year we’re turning our signature Mac-N-Cheese Cook-Off into an old-fashioned fall festival filled with food, family, fun, and HOPE! 💛

National Nonprofit Day has us feeling extra grateful for all the people who make what we do possible. 💛
From the families who trust us and allow us to be part of their lives, to the volunteers, donors, community partners, and friends who continue to show up for HHP, there are so many people behind this mission.
We may get to call this our work, but it has always belonged to a much bigger community. We’re grateful to be a part of it.

We’re officially less than a month away from Facilitator Training! 💙

As we prepare for our fall program cycle, we’re looking for CARING individuals who are ready to walk alongside grieving children, teens, and adults. Our facilitators help create a SAFE and SUPPORTIVE space where participants can share, connect, and navigate their grief alongside others who understand.

You don’t need to have all the answers or any previous experience, just a compassionate heart, willingness to listen, and a desire to make a difference in the lives of grieving families in our community.
