Yesterday, at our first Women’s Circle meeting of 2026, Terri Carroll, NP, of Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center at Amarillo, shared her expertise in sleep medicine. Her honest, informative conversation about sleep apnea shed light on something many women may struggle with but is rarely discussed. It was empowering, practical, and deeply relevant.

Yesterday was a reminder of what makes the Women's Circle so special – women showing up for their health, for one another, and for lasting impact in our community.

Thank you to every woman who came and continues to be part of this circle. We’re just getting started.

In 2024, thanks to membership dues and our generous corporate partners, $55,000 was awarded in grants to 10 local organizations dedicated to improving the health and well-being of women in our community.

Each month, we will highlight one of these incredible recipients.

First up: Amarillo Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority

This local nonprofit, led by a dynamic group of women, works to serve and uplift the community through various programs. One of their impactful initiatives is the Lisa Cherry Health Fair, which offers free health screenings, wellness information, and activities to the community — making preventive care more accessible to those who need it.

Thank you to everyone who attended our latest Women's Circle meeting! We were honored to have Dr. Heidi Villalba, Assistant Professor of Neurophysiology and Pharmaceutical Sciences at Texas Tech University's School of Veterinary Medicine, as our speaker. Dr. Villalba's fascinating presentation on "Unlocking the Mysteries of Stroke: Exploring S*x Differences Through Preclinical Research Models" highlighted the crucial need for more research that benefits women specifically. She also reminded us of the importance of recognizing stroke warning signs: F.A.S.T. (Face drooping, Arm weakness, Speech difficulty, Time to call 911).

We want to thank our members for their continued support and dedication to promoting women's health through education and philanthropy. Together, we are making a difference!

It was wonderful seeing everyone today at our last Women’s Circle meeting of the year! We enjoyed a fascinating and inspiring presentation by Dr. Annelise Nquyen, Professor of Toxicology and Associate Dean of Research at Texas Tech University School of Veterinary Medicine about her groundbreaking work in precision medicine, and breast cancer. We all walked away with more knowledge and an appreciation for the people who work tirelessly to find applicable solutions for cancer. We appreciate each one of our members as well as our sponsors. Thank you for all you do to strengthen and promote women’s health through education and philanthropy. We look forward to seeing you in 2024!
