Scout's Street Smart Rescue Scout's Street Smart Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non profit rescue. My name is Wendy Patterson. I am the founder of Scout’s Street Smart Rescue in Amarillo, TX.

When I moved to Amarillo in 2018, I was absolutely shocked at the amount of homeless, abandoned, owner-surrendered, and injured dogs and puppies. The numbers were, and still are, staggering. My mission is two-fold. One, to rescue and to get these animals’ immediate needs met. Their needs range anywhere from immediate medical intervention to getting fosters lined up. So, when they’re ready, they can be placed in their approved adoptive homes. Secondly, my mission is to go into our community to provide basic health care needs. I will provide Parvo Distemper shots, Bordetella shots, and microchips and I will try to educate the community as much as possible, by providing educational pet health and welfare materials. My goal is to continue recruiting volunteers and team leaders in all areas, based on statistical needs. Scout’s Street Smart Rescue will be one of the leading, progressive rescues in the Panhandle. I have no doubts. We are truly committed to assisting the community by helping to address the needs of its residents. I am determined and designed to be part of the solution.

🐾 Rue is officially HOME! 🏡

This lucky girl has headed off to start her next chapter, and we couldn’t be happier for her! She has new doggie siblings to learn from, romp and play with, an incredible new mom, and a college-aged human brother to love.

Rue’s new family has rescued many dogs over the years, so she’ll have experienced humans by her side as she settles in. With someone home all the time, a big fenced-in yard to enjoy, and plenty of opportunities for fun, companionship, and adventures, this girl is set up for a wonderful life!

Here’s to a lifetime of being loved, spoiled, and cherished, sweet Rue. You hit the jackpot! 🐶

💚 Seek Has Found His Perfect Match!

After losing their beloved dog to cancer earlier this year, Seek’s new family took some time to grieve. With their daughter away at college and the house feeling a little too quiet, they eventually realized they were ready for another set of paws to fill their home.

Then along came Seek! The resemblance to their previous dog was astounding, and when they came to meet him, the connection was instant. This gentle giant soaked up all the pets, happily accepted belly rubs, and won them over with his sweet nature. It was a perfect fit!

Seek has landed a wonderful home with people who are home often, a nice yard to enjoy, and plenty of adventures ahead. And when their daughter comes home from college, she’ll have a big, lovable boy waiting to soak up even more affection!

Happy life, Seek! We can’t wait to hear about all the adventures, cuddles, and wonderful memories ahead. 💚🐾

🐾 Next Stop: A Lifetime of Adventures, Jasper! 🐶

Hash, now Jasper, has headed off to the most perfect home for him, and we couldn’t be happier about the life waiting for this boy!

His new family is a recently retired couple who have had Cattle Dogs and absolutely love the breed. Hiking, camping, and bringing their dogs along for all sorts of adventures are right up their alley, and they have the experience working in shelters and fostering to understand what goes into helping dogs thrive.

They also love intelligent, high-energy dogs and genuinely enjoy training, so Jasper may get to try out some dog sports and classes just for fun! With his brains, enthusiasm, and love for learning, he has landed with people who will appreciate all the things that make him special.

From trails and camping trips to learning new skills and finding new adventures, this boy has so much to look forward to. We couldn’t have picked a better fit for him!

Good luck, buddy! Your next chapter is going to be one heck of an adventure. 💚

💚 SALLY HAS BEEN ADOPTED! 💚

Sally is officially heading home to a wonderful family, and we couldn’t be happier for this sweet girl.

She’ll have someone home with her all the time, an enormous fenced yard to romp and play in, and a couple of kids to grow up alongside. Her new family has had dogs before and loves having paws running around the house. And down the line, they’re even hoping to add a second dog to the family.

Sally, you’ve got so many wonderful adventures ahead of you, and we can’t wait to hear all about them. Wishing you a lifetime of love, happiness, and backyard zoomies. 🐾💚

Congratulations, Sally! You’re home! 🏡
