Scout's Street Smart Rescue Scout's Street Smart Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non profit rescue. My name is Wendy Patterson. I am the founder of Scout’s Street Smart Rescue in Amarillo, TX.

When I moved to Amarillo in 2018, I was absolutely shocked at the amount of homeless, abandoned, owner-surrendered, and injured dogs and puppies. The numbers were, and still are, staggering. My mission is two-fold. One, to rescue and to get these animals’ immediate needs met. Their needs range anywhere from immediate medical intervention to getting fosters lined up. So, when they’re ready, they ca

n be placed in their approved adoptive homes. Secondly, my mission is to go into our community to provide basic health care needs. I will provide Parvo Distemper shots, Bordetella shots, and microchips and I will try to educate the community as much as possible, by providing educational pet health and welfare materials. My goal is to continue recruiting volunteers and team leaders in all areas, based on statistical needs. Scout’s Street Smart Rescue will be one of the leading, progressive rescues in the Panhandle. I have no doubts. We are truly committed to assisting the community by helping to address the needs of its residents. I am determined and designed to be part of the solution.

Fraya the mama is now ready to start Heartworm treatment. She also had anaplasmosis so we chose our battles and tackled anaplasmosis first. Heartworm treatment is three phases.

BRUNO HAS BEEN ADOPTED! 💙

Sweet, sweet Bruno is officially off to his forever home! And the best part? He’s keeping his name!

His new family absolutely loved him from the moment they met him. Bruno greeted them with the happiest little hello, and the second they sat down, he climbed right into their lap and settled in for pets like he already knew he was home.

Now this sweet boy is headed off to an amazing life with a big yard, a wonderful home, and a couple who are home all the time. They were absolutely ecstatic to have the chance to rescue and adopt Bruno, and we couldn’t be happier for all of them.

After everything, Bruno finally has exactly what he deserves: a family who adores him, a place to call home, and a lifetime of love ahead. 🐾

Hattie has been ADOPTED! 🏡❤️

This sweet girl has officially headed home to her forever family, and we couldn’t be happier for her!

Hattie’s new parents are a wonderful young couple who own their home, have a fenced yard, and her new mom works from home full-time. They had both grown up with dogs, including Shepherds, Labs, and bully breeds, and once they settled into their new home, they knew they wanted to add a furry companion to their family.

When they saw Hattie, it just clicked. Their personalities and energy matched so well, and they quickly fell in love with this laid-back, sweet, smart, and affectionate girl.

They’re already looking forward to everything they’ll get to do together, including puppy classes for fun and to work on all those good manners, lots of tough toys for a puppy who needs to chew, and maybe even a puppy pool for some fun in the sun! They’re also considering exploring therapy work with Hattie down the road once she’s through her initial puppy training.

Most importantly, she has a family who is excited to love her, spoil her, and make her part of their everyday lives.

And Hattie has a new name to go with her new life…

Home Sweet Home 💚

Otis has officially headed off to his forever home, and we truly could not have dreamed up a better match for this sweet boy.

His new family has two adults who both work from home full-time, two kiddos for him to grow up with, and a sweet adult female dog who already loves to play. They live on a big property with tons of space to explore, and their dogs are part of everything they do. They hit the trails, visit the creek and river several times a week, bring their dogs along on adventures and daily outings, and even walk the kids to and from school together.

From the moment they met, their energies just clicked. They were ready to love Otis forever, and Otis was ready to love them right back.

Otis is such a gentle, loving boy who simply wants to be wherever his people and animal friends are. Whether he’s exploring, playing, going on an adventure, or just hanging out with his family, he is happiest when he’s included.

This is exactly the kind of life we hoped we could find for him. A family who will make him part of everything, give him all the love he deserves, and never stop choosing him.

Perfect match. Perfect family. Perfect forever home. 💚

Sunny has officially found her forever home! 💚

Our sweet girl was the very last puppy of her litter waiting for her turn, and that turn finally came. Sunny has gone off to a wonderful home where she is going to be spoiled and loved for the rest of her life.

Her new family is a retired couple who are home all the time, have a huge fenced yard, and have rescued many dogs throughout their lives. They have another dog at home who is going to have a new little companion, too.

Sadly, they lost one of their older dogs to cancer, and just months before that, they had lost another beloved dog. Their home has been missing those special four-legged companions, and we truly believe Sunny is going to bring some much brighter days back into their lives.

She is going to be so incredibly loved, and we couldn’t have asked for a better family for our little girl. Sunny is making their family complete again, and we are so happy that she gets to spend the rest of her life surrounded by people who will adore her. 🐾

Happy forever, Sunny. You found exactly where you belong. 🎉
