Our second meeting in September had Chandra Perkins, creator of Storybridge here in the Panhandle. A previous educator with AISD, she had a vision for every child to be able to pick from their own library of books and read. A very heartwarming presentation and the number of students they have given books to is amazing. Check out her website and see what what a difference she and her staff had made for kids in the Panhandle. Another example of hard working Texans make life better for everyone.

Our first meeting in September brought Gracie's Project to visit us and give us insight to the mega-sized canine population that they deal with constantly. Caring about dogs needing to be rescued is their goal. Those of us who care about these animals see what a wonderful and dedicated service they provide. The representatives presented us a deeply moving program about so many dogs and how they have provided them with homes, medical attention, shelter and hope. Highly recommend checking them out.

The second bi-monthly meeting last night had Stephanie Stewart with Sharing Hope Ministry, Inc. here in Amarillo. She lectured on the history of the Ministry, the purpose and services they perform and how they assist the women they serve to get them back into society. Excellent meeting and such a wonderful service they provide. Just another example of the fine people of the Panhandle and the dedicated Lions Club members that help these organizations.

Our bi-monthly meeting last night consisted of Captain Dennis Rice of the Randall County Sheriff's Department and Shelley Bohannon, With the Bridge, Children's Advocacy Center. The presentation was excellent. They serve a very important part of the Texas Panhandle. Many thanks for what these volunteers do every day.

Chris Rogers, past District Governor, conducted the induction ceremony for The Lake Tanglewood Lions Club last night. James Lutes was named President. Steve Camarata was named First Vice President with Vance Hall being named Second Vice President. Ricky Sharp remains as Treasurer/Secretary and Harold Bradford was named Lion Tamer with Dr. Gailyn Rogers nominated as Tail Twister. Many thanks to these members for taking the reins for the upcoming year. Many years of knowledge and experience with this new board.

We are doing a burger burn with live music at the Community Center/Park this Saturday night the 18th with the Lake Tanglewood Volunteer Fire Department. This is a Membership Drive to increase our numbers for both entities. We will start serving about 5 p.m. Let's have a crowd to support these two fantastic organizations that serve so many folks every day!
