Many of you know Pete Lucero as 7 Star Horse Therapy’s Barn Manager, Therapeutic Riding Instructor, Equine Specialist, and the person who is always willing to lend a hand wherever needed. What you may not know is that Pete and his brother, Johnny, started the West Texas Amarillo Swap Meet several years ago, combining their passion for classic cars and restoration.

As Pete’s personal contribution to 7 Star Horse Therapy, he donates 75% of the event’s proceeds to support the children, veterans, and families we serve through our equine-assisted programs.

🐴 Meet the Herd: Baloo!

Baloo is a 21-year-old Quarter Horse who has been part of the 7 Star Horse Therapy family for 3½ years. Before joining us, he spent his career as an all-around ranch horse in Tulia, Texas.

Standing 16.1 hands tall and weighing around 1,400 pounds, Baloo may be one of the biggest members of our herd—but he’s also one of the biggest teddy bears! ❤️ He absolutely loves attention, especially when someone scratches his back, and he’s never one to turn down a snack.

Today, Baloo serves in our Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) sessions, where his calm, gentle nature helps clients build trust, confidence, and meaningful connections.

🐴✨ Buddy & Bear had an absolute blast representing 7 Star Horse Therapy at the AQHA Hall of Fame & Museum’s Family Fun Day! 💙

From making new friends to sharing smiles (and soaking up all the love and pets!), these two definitely enjoyed being part of such a fun community event. We love opportunities like this to introduce more people to the incredible impact horses can have.
