DEDICATED TO KEEPING OUR BEACHES SAFE
East End Ocean Rescue (EEOR) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide the most effective lifesaving equipment, techniques and educational materials possible, so residents and vacationers alike can enjoy our world famous beaches safely and with confidence. Jimmy Minardi founded EEOR 14 years ago from an inherent need he saw for additional water

safety education and available resources that would decrease rescue response times and further help to save lives along the East End's beautiful beaches that overflow with vacationers each summer. His father belonged to the Fire Island Ocean Rescue in the 50s and 60s and he has been an Ocean Rescue Lifeguard since 1979. In 1998 he created a volunteer ocean rescue model that is now called East Hampton Town Ocean Rescue. He was a pool, lake and bay lifeguard, and an American Red Cross swimming and lifesaving instructor. In college he ran a “Water Babies” program to help pay for his degree. Sean Daly, Co-President
Sean is also a long time lifeguard, a member of East Hampton Town Volunteer Ocean Rescue, and a NYPD officer on the Scuba Search and Rescue Squad. Both are incredibly passionate about the need to protect and educate the community about water safety and practice. They take East End Ocean Rescue’s non-profit status seriously. EEOR was set up as a private non-profit organization to be independent of politics, bureaucracy and committees. EEOR attorney, William Fleming, donates his time to make sure our i’s are dotted and the t's crossed to ensure that the foundation is legally secure. All serve without salary.

Scarborough Beach of the great state of Maine Beach Manager Greg Wilfert, saw our above post regarding the EEOR/EHV "after hours torp".... and thought it was such a great idea that he and his crew made their own. It's simple and it works..... East End Ocean Rescue is going to donate the full set up, including the signs stickers and Torp racks for next summer season, and we will also throw in Rip Current cards and a box.... and for those of you that are new to this discourse last week East Hampton Village/EEOR after hours Torp saved a life.

Last week we had an heroic rescue by after hours beach goer who used our after hours rescue Torps to to save a drowning victim caught in a Rip Current. They used one of our Torps that was installed on one of our towers at Main Beach East Hampton . I have to give credit due here to deputy Mayor, Chris Minardi, who encouraged EEOR to donate "after hours rescue Torps " to all of the village beaches.... with the collaboration of EEOR and East Hampton Village we now have after hours rescue Torps at all Village beaches. Here is our latest insulation at Wiborg Beach and Egypt Beach. All Torps donated by East End Ocean Rescue.

We saved a life.

Well, East Hampton beaches were rated in the top five as some of the most beautiful beaches in the world obviously so... but I can say we try to be number one in Ocean safety. East Hampton Village is one of the only municipalities that offers free Rip Current information (recycled plastic cards) at all of its beaches , including Rip Current signs. The photo below is the very first card picked up by bather for summer 25. Last summer we distributed over 4500 cards. Soon the card boxes will also feature Quick scan option All donated by East End Ocean Rescue.
