There are moments in life that remind you why your work matters.
As I was preparing for a speaking engagement, I heard someone say, “Dr. Brown, hey, do you remember me?” It was Edwin, one of my former students.
Edwin shared that he is doing well, has been with his company for the past 10 years, and is continuing to make a positive impact through his work. I cannot fully express how proud I am of his journey.
It is always a blessing to run into people you once had the opportunity to pour into and see them growing, working, leading, and staying positively connected in the community they serve.
Edwin, congratulations to you. I am proud of the man you have become and grateful that our paths crossed again. Keep going. Keep growing. Keep making a difference.
To anyone reading this, never underestimate the power of speaking life into someone else. Whether it is a child, a teenager, a young adult, a new employee, or someone simply walking through a hard season, your words, your encouragement, and your belief in them can make a lasting difference.
We need more people who are willing to lead, support, encourage, and help others see what is possible.
I am grateful to be Dr. Motivate, and I thank God for every opportunity to serve in schools, businesses, public spaces, and workplaces across our communities. Every space matters because people matter.
Always remember: you matter, people matter, and your positive impact can help change the trajectory of someone’s life.
What is one piece of encouragement someone gave you that stayed with you over the years?
To God be all the glory.
