As our nation celebrates America’s 250th Anniversary in 2026, the Alva Fire Department is honored to celebrate a milestone of our own—50 years of serving and protecting the Alva community.

For five decades, our firefighters, volunteers and supporters have answered the call with courage, dedication and pride. Just as our country reflects on 250 years of freedom, resilience, and service, we are proud to reflect on 50 years of commitment to our neighbors and community.

To commemorate this special occasion, our Volunteer program is offering the limited edition 50th Anniversary T-shirts for $20 each.

REVISED: Come join us this Tuesday evening at 7pm. We don't have High School updates this week, but we will be discussing the upcoming application for Caloosa 80.

The Caloosa 80 development proposal (applications CPA2022-00018 and DCI2022-00062) has recently advanced in its approval process. The Lee County Local Planning Agency (LPA) voted 3–2 to endorse a critical Comprehensive Growth Management Plan amendment. This endorsement moves the developer's requested zoning change from a Recreational Vehicle Planned Development (RVPD) to a Mixed-Use Planned Development (MPD)

The transmittal hearing will be held with the County commissioner on June 17th.

The amendment seeks to reclassify 93 acres of the site from the Rural Land Use Category to the Sub-Outlying Suburban Future Land Use caegirty which will have larger implications for the future of Alva.
