Thank you to the engaged citizens throughout Lee County who have found their voice. Thank you to the Commissioners who are hearing those voices.

The Lee County Commission has voted to pause moving forward with the changes to the Comprehensive Plan. The changes that seek to remove the Community Plans for 17 Communities throughout the County.

The call for enhanced and open community engagement was heard and acted on.

Several of the commissioners want more time to fully digest, understand and be able to articulate what these changes mean for all of us. None of the Commission opposed.

The people of Lee County thank you and the Communities throughout Lee County look forward to the discussion and transparency moving forward.

We’re just one month away from welcoming Florida author Gregory Enns to the Alva Museum on Saturday, October 10th, for a special author visit, presentation, and book signing featuring Cow Creek Chronicles.

If you love Florida history, cattle country, pioneer life, or the stories and traditions of Old Florida, this is one you’ll want to put on your calendar.

Through Cow Creek Chronicles, Enns explores a piece of Florida’s cattle-country history — the people, places, experiences, and traditions that are part of a much larger Florida story.

The Alva Museum is excited to bring that story to Alva and give our community an opportunity to hear directly from the author.

And this isn’t just a presentation.

Bring your questions, meet the author, pick up a copy of the book, have it signed, and join us in celebrating the people, places, and traditions that make Florida’s cattle country unlike anywhere else.

Thank you so much to our speakers at the September meeting!

This month we heard from Lindsey Crum, UF/IFAS, Hendry, Glades, Charlotte, Collier and Lee County's Livestock Agent. The discussion was focused on the challenges facing Florida's Agriculture Community and countless reasons why Florida's ranchers, farmers and agriculture industries are so important for our future.

We learned a great deal of information on the great work UF/IFAS is doing. We could have listened to Lindsey for hours, but it was a school night. We can't wait for her next visit.

We also had Dr. Joe Restino, Principal of the new Alva High School. He talked about the progress at the school, the educational programs and agricultural programs, the curriculum and he also shared some interior design drawings of the school. We look forward to future updates, Joe! Thank you.

In a bittersweet moment, our very own Amanda Cochran offered her resignation as our Alva Inc. Vice President to focus on her role as the newly elected Lee County District 5 Commissioner.

Commissioner Cochran, we appreciate your service and sacrifice. You will be a great representative for all of Lee County's residents.

Join us for our monthly meetings, the 2nd Tuesday of every month, 7pm at the Alva Community Center. It's an open public discussion focused on things that impact our community.

Please come join us Tuesday night (Tomorrow) September 8th, 7pm at the Alva Community Center for a very informative meeting.

Guest Speaker, Lindsey Crum, University of Florida Livestock Extension Agent will be discussing the state of Agriculture in Southwest Florida.

We also have Alva High School Principal Dr. Joseph Restino joining us for some updates on the High School.

Please come join us and participate. Since baseball practice is back in "full swing", please feel free to park behind the ball field where we have additional overflow parking.
