Because We Care puts personalized teddy bears in the hands of police officers,so they can give them to children to provide comfort during a difficult time.

The Because We Care Foundation was conceived by acts of compassion towards police officers by two young daughters of our founder. In 2015, one of the daughters read the story of a tragic killing of a police officer in Cypress, Texas during a time when relationships between law enforcement and the communities was at a low point. The young girl shared the story with her family over dinner and the two daughters decided they wanted to show their local police department their gratitude for their service and to let them know people cared about them. They decided to dip into their own private vacation funds to purchase lunch for the entire department. The entire police department was humbled by such an act of kindness and sacrifice. In turn the department planned a day to give the girls a tour of the police department, a ride in one of their police cruisers, and they got to talk with various members of the department and learn what they did in their jobs. In addition, the department presented the girls with two cards signed by all the police officers with gift cards for each of them. The encounter and reaction of the children and the police department inspired those who were witness to these events to continue an initiative to foster a better relationship between the emergency departments and the communities they serve. Every day our men and women in the first responding community respond to calls that are traumatic and involve children. Whether it be a car accident, house fire, or cases of neglect or abuse, our first responders are usually the first ones on scene. Trauma can happen to any child. The key, is early intervention. Our hope is that with the help of our community, being willing to support our cause, that we will be able to help spread some light during the darkest of times. On Saturday, October 17th, we’ll come together for an evening set aside to honor the men and women of Police, Fire, EMS, and Dispatch who faithfully serve our communities.

This year’s theme, “Every Shift Makes A Difference,” is a simple reminder that what may feel like just another call, another shift, or another day of service can make a lasting difference in someone’s life.

We’re looking forward to sharing this evening with our First Responding Community, their families, and those who simply want to say, thank you for your service.

We are so thankful for a new partnership with Bowser’s consulting LLC that will help BWC comfort animals reach even more Police and Fire departments.💙🧸❤️

Over the next year, Bowser’s Consulting LLC will be purchasing two BWC animal orders each month for departments that we are not currently partnered with.

BWC provides the comfort animals with personalized T-shirts, and Bowser’s personally delivers them to the departments they choose. This gives more departments the opportunity to have BWC comfort animals available for children during difficult situations, while also giving Bowser’s the opportunity to introduce themselves and the insurance services they provide for Police and Fire personnel.

Their first two deliveries have now been made, and we are thankful to share a few photos from those departments.

We truly appreciate Bowser’s Consulting LLC for coming alongside BWC in this way. Through this partnership, these animals are reaching departments and communities that we may not have connected with otherwise.

Most of all, we are thankful to God for every door He continues to open and every opportunity He gives us to serve our First Responding Community.💙❤️🧸🤍💛

Every Shift Makes A Difference.

We chose those words for this year’s Night Amongst Heroes because sometimes the things that may seem ordinary to a first responder can mean everything to the person on the other side of the call.

A kind word. Taking a few extra minutes. Helping someone through one of the hardest moments of their life.

They may never know what happened afterward or realize just how much that moment meant to someone, but that doesn’t mean the difference wasn’t made.

On October 17th, we’ll come together to honor our Police, Fire, EMS, and Dispatch for what they do each and every day.

We are so thankful to the Stitt family for honoring the memory of Mysti’s late father, Rod Holsinger, by providing Because We Care Deer for the Allegheny Township Police Department.❤️ These comfort animals will be available for officers to give to children during difficult situations.

We are also grateful for our nearly 10-year partnership with Allegheny Township Police Department and for the compassion their officers continue to show the children they serve.

Most of all, we thank God for the relationships He has allowed BWC to build and for every opportunity to support our first responders and the children in our communities.💙

Today, we were honored to receive our first batch of Because We Care Deer from Mysti, Emily and Mason Stitt. The Stitt family created the deer in honor of Mysti's late father, Rod Holsinger. The Because We Care Deer will be provided to children who we interact with during incidents. We would like to thank the Stitt family and the Because We Care Foundation for this opportunity to help comfort a child when they are involved in a crisis situation.
