Main Line Canal Greenway Geotrail

Main Line Canal Greenway Geotrail Explore the Main Line Canal Greenway’s history and discover your own adventure through geocaching- a worldwide hide and seek quest for treasure using GPS.

The Pittsburgh-to-Harrisburg Main Line Canal Greenway™ is a 320-mile corridor that follows the historic path of the Main Line Canal. It intends to serve as a physical and conceptual connector that improves opportunities for public access, linkage to important destinations, and economic development.

Geocaching (pronounced geo-cashing) is a growing worldwide game of hiding and seeking treasure. A geocacher can place a geocache in the world, pinpoint its location using Global Positioning Technology (GPS) technology and then share the geocache's existence and location online. Anyone with a GPS device can then try to locate the geocache. A geocache is any type of container, ranging from a film canister to a metal ammo box, that is hidden anywhere.
