HoopsFest is honored to welcome Bill Priatko, the oldest living Pittsburgh Steelers alumnus, as a special guest at HoopsFest 2026.

Born and raised in North Braddock, Pennsylvania, Bill was a three-sport athlete in football, basketball, and baseball at North Braddock Scott High School. He went on to earn a football scholarship to the University of Pittsburgh, where he became a varsity letterman and was selected to the Ukrainian All-American Football Team. He earned both a Bachelor of Arts in History and a Master of Education from Pitt before being commissioned as a Second Lieutenant through Air Force ROTC.

Bill proudly served three years on active duty in the United States Air Force. His distinguished service included serving in the Air Force Honor Guard, overseeing Air Force funerals at Arlington National Cemetery, and serving in President Dwight D. Eisenhower’s Honor Guard. He later spent 17 years in the Air Force Reserve as an Aerial Port Commander and Recruiting Detachment Commander.

Following his military service, Bill played linebacker in the National Football League with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Cleveland Browns, and Green Bay Packers. Today, he is recognized as the oldest living member of the Pittsburgh Steelers Alumni Association.

His accomplishments have earned him induction into the Western Pennsylvania Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame, the East Boros Sports Hall of Fame, and the Robert Morris University Athletic Hall of Fame.

Beyond football, Bill dedicated 25 years to education as a teacher, football coach, and athletic director at both the high school and collegiate levels.

Bill was married to his beloved wife, Helen, for 57 years and is the proud father of four children—Debbie, Kathy, Dan, and David—and grandfather to Michaela, David, Kurtis, and Kristopher.

Bill will be at HoopsFest's opening ceremony to greet HoopsFest Country and say a few remarks.
