Blair County Historical Society We operate the Baker Mansion History Museum which displays, maintains and stores artifacts, documents, rare books and exhibits of historic interest.

The Blair County Historical Society (BCHS) was chartered on July 23, 1906 as a non-profit association open to all persons interested in preserving the history of Blair County, Pennsylvania. MISSION: The Blair County Historical Society collects, preserves, interprets, publishes and disseminates accurate history of Blair County for the benefit of our members, local schools, and the community. Each year we feature rotating exhibits on special topics including women’s history and local military veterans and preservation of their oral histories. We engage students and the public with our on-line content, interactive events and special programs.

The night of our History Speaks Lecture: "Colonial-Era Legends and Folklore" has finally arrived!

Join us for our next public lecture with our local expert on all things macabre – Michael Allison! Taking place tonight at 7:00 PM, this lecture will splice together elements of the Halloween season and this year's America250 celebration for a truly festive showcase. After taking guests back to the formative years of our country, Michael will explore some of the strange legends, bizarre myths, and unexplainable events that occurred during that time!

This presentation will take place over at the Railroaders Memorial Museum, and admission is FREE and open to the public! However, donations to the Blair County Historical Society are welcome!

Our series of Halloween-themed events continues tomorrow night with our History Speaks Lecture: "Colonial-Era Legends and Folklore"! 🎃👻

Congratulations once again to our 2026 Heritage Hall of Fame Award recipients! We had a splendid time honoring these fine preservationists last evening, and we cannot thank them enough for the work they have done to save our community's history and heritage!

Special thanks goes out to our wonderful volunteers and staff who helped prepare last evening's events, and shout-out to the US Hotel Tavern for serving as last night's wonderful venue!
