Attention Altona Grade School Parents:

Just another reminder that today from 4 pm to 6 pm at the Ransom Memorial Public Library, will be the first issue of back to school supplies from Project Back to School - Altona. This annual project is made possible by the generous donations from our local churches, businesses, civic groups, and caring individuals from our community. This is for Altona Pre-K through 6th graders. See the flyer for complete details if you are in need of free school supplies. Thank you to all for supporting this effort.

With so many fun events scheduled for Altona Day this weekend, here are some library-specific updates.

⏰ Library Open Hours: On Saturday, July 11th, the library will open 30 minutes early at 9:30am in conjunction with the Altona Historical Society open house. From 9:30am-10:30am, please feel free to visit the library and take a look at our beautiful building. Regular library business, such as returning or checking out books, may be conducted during this time.

⏰ Library Closed During Parade: From 10:30am until the end of the parade, the library will be closed for library business, though after the parade you may still visit to see the building until 1:00pm in conjunction with the Altona Historical Society open house schedule. We hope you will look for our truck in the parade!

⏰ Hearing/Vision Screenings: From 11:30am-1:30pm, there will be free hearing and vision screenings in the library’s “Voting Room,” sponsored by Altona IL Lions. To participate, enter through the front library doors and take an immediate left turn. Please enter quietly, as screenings may be in progress.

⏰ “Oklahoma!” Performance: Doors open for the afternoon showing of “Oklahoma!” at 1:30pm. This sold-out show begins at 2:00pm. Those attending may enter through the front doors of the library. Present your ticket or check in with your reservation name at the door.

Please reach out to the library with any questions.
