Addiction wasn’t the problem.
It was the solution.
The problem was the pain underneath it.
The rejection.
The trauma.
The loneliness.
The shame.
The anger.
The grief.
The feeling that you were never enough.
Addiction became a way to numb what hurt, escape what felt unbearable, or fill what felt empty.
That’s why recovery is about more than just stopping a behavior.

At Celebrate Recovery, we begin to uncover the hurts, hang-ups, and habits underneath it all and allow Jesus to heal what we’ve spent years trying to numb.
You don’t just need freedom from something.
You need healing from what drove you to it.
There is hope. There is healing. And there is freedom. ❤️‍🩹

💜 INTERNATIONAL OVERDOSE AWARENESS DAY

Today, August 31, Celebrate Recovery Global joins people around the world in remembering those whose lives have been lost to overdose and praying for the families and friends carrying that grief.

Behind every statistic is a person.

A son. A daughter. A parent. A spouse. A sibling. A friend. Someone’s Forever Family.

Every life matters. Every loss counts. 💜

Celebrate Recovery is committed to being part of the solution. Our Opioid Ministry Team, led by Opioid Director Nick Olson, works to increase awareness, education, prevention, and resources surrounding opioid addiction and overdose.

Through the Opioid Advocates, we’re helping communities understand that recovery is possible and lives can be saved.

Carry naloxone/Narcan when appropriate. Learn the signs of an overdose. Have the difficult conversations. Help remove the stigma that keeps people from reaching out for help.

And remind someone today:

Your life has value.
Your story isn't over.
There is hope. ❤️‍🩹

📖 “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:18 NIV

🙏 Jesus, we remember every life lost to overdose and pray for every family carrying that grief. Protect those still struggling and give them courage to reach for help. Help us respond with compassion instead of judgment and use us to bring hope to those who need it most. Amen.

💜 EVERY LIFE MATTERS. EVERY LOSS COUNTS. RECOVERY IS POSSIBLE.

Have you been thinking about attending Celebrate Recovery, but fear of the unknown keeps holding you back?

Maybe you’ve wondered…
What happens when I walk through those doors?
Will I know anyone?
Will I have to talk?
Will people judge me?
Do I even belong there?

Here’s what we want you to know:
❤️ The newcomer is the most important person walking through our doors.
We remember what it felt like to walk in for the first time. The nerves. The uncertainty. The temptation to turn around and go home.
You don’t have to have everything figured out.
You don’t have to tell your whole story.
You don’t even have to know exactly why you’re there.
You just have to take that first step through the door.
Come as you are. We’ll be glad you came. ❤️

We have a seat for you at Celebrate Recovery Alton .
DM ahead and we'll meet you just outside the door.
We are willing to do whatever we can to be there for you.
Doors open 6:30 p.m.

🧠❤️ MENTAL HEALTH CHECK-IN:

How are you REALLY doing today?
Not how you look on social media.
Not the automatic “I’m good” answer.
Not how everyone thinks you're doing.
How are you really doing?

Maybe you're 😩 overwhelmed.
Maybe you're 😵‍💫 numb but still functioning.
Maybe you're 🥹 starting to feel a little lighter.
Maybe you're 🥰 finally beginning to feel like yourself again.
Wherever you are today, take a moment to acknowledge it.

At Celebrate Recovery, we learn that healing doesn't require pretending everything is okay. We can be honest about our hurts, hang-ups, and habits while allowing Jesus and our Forever Family to walk alongside us.
Maybe your win this week was getting out of bed.
Maybe you called your sponsor.
Maybe you attended a CR meeting when you wanted to isolate.
Maybe you finally admitted, “I'm not okay right now.”
Those steps matter. ❤️‍🩹
📖 “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” — 1 Peter 5:7 NIV
So here's today's check-in:
👇 Drop ONE emoji in the comments that describes how you're doing.
Then, if you feel comfortable, share:
🙏 What are you giving to God?
❤️‍🩹 What hurt, hang-up, or habit are you working through?
🎉 What's one victory you can celebrate?
🕊️ What's one thing you're ready to let go of?
And when someone shares, let's remember: we're here to encourage, not fix; to listen, not judge; and to point one another toward Jesus.
You don't have to have it all together to belong here.
Come as you are. Jesus leads the way.
