🐄 Ever tried milking a cow? Come test your skills this Saturday!

Join the Oregon County Extension at the Farm Show in Thayer, MO, this Saturday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Thayer High School gymnasium! Stop by our booth to check out our interactive Kids Milking Cow Simulator—a fun, hands-on experience for all ages. While you're there, explore our other exhibits. Bring the whole family out to learn, play, and connect with your local ag community. We can't wait to see you there! 🌾🚜

• A NEW 4-H YEAR IS HERE! • 🍀
Today marks the beginning of a brand-new 4-H year, and we are so excited to welcome back our returning members and volunteers — and welcome new families to the Oregon County 4-H family!

🌟 4-HOnline is officially OPEN for the new year!
Registration is now available for both 4-H members and adult volunteers. If you’re already involved in 4-H, don’t forget to log in and complete your enrollment for the new year. If you’re new to 4-H, this is a great time to get started!

How to sign up:
1. Visit 4HOnline and create or access your family account.
2. Select Oregon County 4-H and complete the enrollment process.
3. Youth members can choose their projects and clubs during enrollment.
4. Adult volunteers can complete their volunteer enrollment to get involved and make a difference in the lives of local youth!

Whether your child is interested in animals, agriculture, cooking, arts and crafts, STEM, shooting sports, leadership, community service, or something completely new, there is a place for them in 4-H!

We’re looking forward to another year of learning, leadership, friendships, and hands-on experiences here in Oregon County. 💚

READY FOR A WILD 4-H EXPERIENCE? 🦏

Dreaming about working with animals? The Missouri 4-H Zoo Apprentice program gives youth the chance to go behind the scenes at Busch Gardens and learn from the people who care for animals every day.

Through hands-on experiences, participants explore animal care, conservation and the unique personalities and behaviors of the animals—all while building skills and confidence for the future.

Last year, St. Charles County 4-H member Greyson, 17, described the experience as a dream come true, including getting up close with animals and assisting with a hippo training session.

Now it could be your turn to experience Zoo Apprentice! 🐘🦏🐯

There’s Still Time to Show Off Your Outdoor Photography Skills! 🌿

Have you captured an amazing outdoor photo this year? Now is the time to enter it in Missouri 4-H’s Great Outdoors Photo Contest!

Whether you’ve photographed a scenic landscape, wildlife, a beautiful sunset, or a hidden outdoor treasure, we want to see Missouri through your eyes! 👀

Age Divisions:
📷 Junior (8–10)
📷 Intermediate (11–13)
📷 Senior (14+)

⏰ Photos must be entered by September 15! Don’t miss your chance to share your favorite outdoor moments and put your photography skills on display.

To offer a shooting sports discipline as a project, we have to have an adult volunteer who completes the Leader Certification. The Shooting Sports Leader Certification is only offered twice a year and registration is open now for the fall training being held at Camp Jo Ota near Clarence, Missouri.

If you are interested in sharing your knowledge and passion for Shooting Sports with youth through the 4-H program, please contact the 4-H Professional in your county now and get registered!
