Due to unforseen circumstances, the Heroes Gala will have to be cancelled this year. All tickets will be refunded. We are, however, leaving the voting for Veteran of the Year and Responder of the Year open for the event and will bring the winners their award personally. We are having a Marine Corps Ball on November 14th at Julia's and there is a link in our events and our Zeffy page to buy tickets for $45 or a table of 8 for $360. Come support your local veterans!

This past Saturday, the annual Veterans Stand Up Stand Down event was held at Soldiers Memorial Military Museum, bringing together organizations from across the region to support our homeless veteran community.

This year, Riverbend Patriots had the extreme pleasure of contributing bottled water for the event, hygiene kits, dental kits, and female care kits.

Between 200–250 homeless veterans received essential supplies and direct access to same‑day services from the VA and other organizations — including housing support, benefits enrollment, legal assistance, ID services, and more.

And this morning, we even caught a glimpse of Riverbend Patriots on the news — always a fun reminder that when you show up for your community, people notice. More importantly, it shows that the work matters.

Events like this highlight exactly why our mission exists.

If you or someone you know is a homeless veteran in the region, do everything you can to get them to this event! We will be there with the VA to connect to services same day. Those needing services will receive a hot meal, water, needed supplies, connected to hot shower services, mental health, VA healthcare, homeless coordinator, shelter/housing services and more. This is one of the most important and impactful events we participate in during the year. It's a one stop shop for veterans in need.

A donor has made contact with Riverbend Patriots and has a hospital bed to donate. If anyone knows someone in need, please make contact and we will pick up and deliver the bed to you from the donor. We also have a few other things in storage for someone in need. We have a stove, refrigerator, and a basic push lawnmower. ** edit** another donor has made contact and we now also have a commode and hospital grade walker being held for donation.

Need assistance with your utility bill? Ameren Illinois will be hosting a workshop on Wednesday, September 23, 2026 at the SJMBC-Celebration 2 Center, in Alton. Qualifying households will receive a $200 credit on their Ameren bill. Please note this is for Ameren customers only.
