Our condolences go out to Mrs. Iris Nicholson, whose daughter, Kim, passed away recently. Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers.
Iris was the ACA secretary/treasurer for many years, as was her Mother. Thank you for your many years of service, Iris!

If you wish to make a cash donation at the annual meeting and would like a receipt/acknowledgement, Marie can provide you with a donation form and send you a receipt. On the donation form, you can also indicate if it is in honor of or in memory of someone.
If no receipt is necessary, there will be an opportunity to make your donation when "the hat" (basket? plate? Frisbee?) is passed. All donations are greatly appreciated!

Mr. Michael Starling, son of Mrs. Dorothy Starling Thomas, helped build our picnic tables ~1986-87, at her request. Both he and his nephew, Mr. Hank Chvatal, came to the annual meeting in 2024, and offered to rebuild/refurbish them. Well, they're done and they look great! Thank you so much, Hank and Michael! What a wonderful tribute to Mrs. Thomas and the rest of your families!

Please invite your family members and bring your favorite foods for the potluck lunch.

In case of rain, we'll move it to the Barsola Community Cener, ~1 mile south of the cemetery.

Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Vinson very graciously had a great-looking fence put up on three sides of the cemetery. Thank you, Mr. and Mrs. Vinson!

And thanks to Mr. Vic Whadford for replacing the tattered American flag at the entrance gate. He passed it to the Boy Scouts for a proper disposal.

Hope to see you there!

I've been asked for photos of my Starling family and a class photo at the old school, so I'm attaching them here. (Marie)
The first one is Emily Swain Kight, Myrtie Swain Starling, her brother, Ivy Swain, sister Nettie Swain Wilson, Robbie Swain Singletary (on the ground). This was at the Barsola Homecoming, probably in early to mid 1950s.

On the right is Robbie Swain and Syble Starling.

The class photo says "Forest School" but maybe should say Barsola. It was taken in 1929. My Mother, Syble Starling (later McMahon) is the 6th one in the middle row. The note on back says she "was supposed to wear the scarf 'loosely' around her neck, but changed it to be 'sassy.'" Love that!

Also attached is a list of Alexander Moses Starling and Eluzabeth Coleman Starling's children.

Please note - I am NOT a genealogist or historian and do not guarantee the accuracy of these documents. Just sharing it for others.
