Standing 111 feet tall, and overlooking the Shawnee National Forest, Bald Knob Cross of Peace is located in the foothills of the Illinois Ozark Mountains. Originally completed in 1963 with a restoration completed in 2010, the cross itself stands 111 feet tall, is 22 feet square at the base, 16 feet square at the top and its arms extend 63 feet horizontally. The exterior white panels covering the

cross are 4-inch architectural flat insulated metal panels while the base portion is covered in granite approximately 4-inches thick. The structure sits on a foundation of 730 tons of reinforced concrete that goes down 20 feet to bedrock. The steel framework weighs 170 tons. Each of the four sides of the cross have a word inscribed into the granite: Peace, Hope, Faith, Charity.

Plan a Group Meeting, Family Event, Wedding… at the Cross! You may use the event space in the Welcome Center or reserve our entire pavilion. Our space is perfect for a potluck or catered meal event.

There is no fee to use our Welcome Center meeting facilities or outdoor pavilion, but donations are appreciated. Contact us for more information or to reserve your space, 618-713-8516.

A beautiful day of community today at Bald K**b Cross of Peace for the 7th Annual Blessing of the Jeeps. We had approximately 600 Jeeps and 2,000 guests for our largest Jeeps Blessing ever. Thanks for coming!
