This year there will be more exhibitors, more equipment to try, Bruce Kruk, informative presentations, raffles supporting The Mayfly Project, free lunch sponsored by Douglaston Salmon Run and more! Also, there are still openings for our Friday 8/7 school and classes and Sunday 8/9 classes.

This year’s Spey Nation classes include two specialty subjects – Trout Spey and One Hand Spey Casting. Two fun ways for expanding your Spey fishing to pursue a wider range of species or fish smaller waters. Spey Nation is dedicated to education and enjoyment of the resource. I hope you can join us. Spey Nation returns August 7th to 9th, 2026 on the banks of the Salmon River in New York’s Oswego County. Save the Date!

This year Spey School is on Friday August 7th. The free and open-to-the-public main event is Saturday August 8th. Small Group Casting Classes are on Friday, August 7th and Sunday, August 9th.

Registration is now open for casting classes and Spey School.

Excited to welcome this year’s special guest Bruce Kruk from Trail, British Columbia. And this year there will be more vendors and opportunity for hands-on trial and demos of equipment along with the return of raffles benefitting The Mayfly Project.

Another Spey Nation is behind us and by all accounts it was an enjoyable and informative gathering along with receiving positive feedback on the Spey school and classes.

Still one opening left for the Spey Nation Spey School presented by Swing the Fly. The one-day school takes place on Friday August 8, 2025 at the Douglaston Salmon Run on the Salmon River. The school is a unique opportunity to learn from expert Spey anglers Rick Kustich, Jeff Liskay, Nick Pionessa, and Daniel Ritz. This year, , , and .far.slow return for four different classes in six sessions, on Friday August 8th and then again on Sunday, August 10th, including: Introduction to Spey Casting, Touch-And-Go Casts: the Single Spey and Snake Roll, Waterborne Anchor Casts: the Snap T and Double Spey, and Casting Mechanics.

Also, registration is still open for the Swing the Fly Spey School August 7th and 8th to be held at the Douglaston Salmon Run.

The first ever two-day Spey Nation: Spey School event brought to you by Swing The Fly in partnership with Douglaston Salmon Run (DSR) is designed to be a comprehensive learning opportunity for anglers to develop and/or refine sound fundamental spey casting techniques as well as every necessary aspect to successfully spey cast and fish the swung fly. Participants can expect a fun, fulfilling and informative two days at DSR that is guaranteed to greatly improve skills and assist in becoming a more complete angler.

The 2025 Spey Nation Spey: Nation School will be taught by some of our community’s top anglers and instructors including:
