🎉 Good news, Kasoag Lake! 🎉

All restrictions from this year’s milfoil treatment have been lifted. Irrigation and shoreline maintenance are both back to normal.

Early results are looking very good. Thanks to everyone for your patience while the treatment did its work. Here’s to a great rest of the summer on the lake!

Treatment Update: Ready Scout is back and has completed the North section of Shingle Mill Creek. That wraps up this round of treatment on the lake!

A few reminders now that we’re done:

Please hold off on any manual weeding for the time being. Pulling Eurasian watermilfoil manually breaks it into fragments that take root and spread, which works against everything the treatment is doing. Give the herbicide time to work.

While the application was targeted to specific areas, the effect across the lake will be broad and will significantly knock back the most invasive species we’re dealing with.

Thanks for your patience, everyone!

📢 REMINDER: The ProcellaCOR herbicide application will be moving forward this morning, July 13, as scheduled.

• Keep shore maintenance paused. Hold off on pulling weeds or clearing around docks until July 27 - two weeks are needed to allow the treatment’s full effect.

• Hold off on irrigating from the lake until July 20. No restrictions on drinking water, swimming, or fishing.

• Watch for Ready Scout's boat this morning. Please steer clear while they're treating, and leave the yellow signs up.

Thank you for helping us protect Kasoag Lake!

📢 UPDATE: We hope this is the final update on our treatment date, but we’ve learned not to promise! 😄 We’re currently targeting Monday July 13th for the lake treatment. As always, we’ll confirm once it’s locked in.

On a lighter note, don’t forget the KLCA Picnic this Saturday, right after our membership meeting! 🌭 Kelly Merrill is providing hot dogs, buns, condiments, and paper supplies. Just bring a dish or side to share.

Come for the meeting, stay for the food, and enjoy an early lunch with your lake neighbors!

📢 UPDATE: The lake treatment scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday, July 7, has been postponed. A supply delay with the herbicide means it could not proceed as planned. The treatment will be pushed by a few days, and we will post the confirmed new date here as soon as we have it. Stay tuned!

📢 UPDATE: Treatment moved to Tuesday, July 7

The Kasoag Lake herbicide treatment has moved up one day, from July 8 to Tuesday, July 7, for better weather. Everything shifts a day earlier:

• Keep shore maintenance paused. Hold off on pulling weeds or clearing around docks until July 21.

• Hold off on irrigating from the lake until July 13. No restrictions on drinking water, swimming, or fishing.

• Watch for Ready Scout's boat on July 7. Please steer clear while they're treating, and leave the yellow signs up.

💧Lake Treatment: Tuesday, July 8

We're treating the lake this year with ProcellaCOR EC, a DEC-approved herbicide targeting Eurasian Watermilfoil. It's effective for about three years. Exact timing of treatment will be determined on the 8th based on conditions.

✅ No restrictions on drinking water, swimming, and fishing before, during, or after treatment, other than the immediate vicinity of the applicator boat.

🚫 Do not use lake water for irrigation from the lake until July 14 (5 days after treatment +1 to be conservative). That applies to watering gardens, crops, landscape plants, greenhouse or nursery plants, and livestock. We'll be in touch if anything changes.

⚠️ Please pause all shore maintenance now - and through July 22. Pulling weeds or clearing around docks can break off live plant fragments that re-root in the lake. We need two full weeks after the July 8 treatment for the herbicide to do its job before anyone disturbs aquatic plants.

You'll see Ready Scout's boat on the lake on July 8 during the application. Avoid swimming in the immediate area while the boat is actively treating.

06/08/2026

Due to a recent change in the NYS DEC application requirements for our Wetlands Permit, our 2026 treatment which was originally scheduled for the end of June is now expected to be scheduled in early-mid July.

Thanks to the chilly Spring at Kasoag, our applicator is confident that this change won’t impact the effectiveness of the treatment.

You can continue to pull/cut weeds on your shoreline until 2 weeks before the treatment. As soon we have a treatment date, we’ll let you know!
