On Saturday, May 23, BAM Orlando hosted our annual Bridge Build Competition, bringing together talented students for a day of creativity, collaboration, and innovation.

Participants put their engineering and design skills to the test, constructing bridges that balanced strength and ingenuity. The competition showcased not only the technical talent of our students but also the power of problem-solving through teamwork and perseverance.

We are incredibly proud of all who participated and grateful to the volunteers, sponsors, and supporters who helped make this event possible. Events like these inspire the next generation of designers to imagine and build a stronger future.

On Saturday, April 4, BAM hosted our Exposure + Inspiration workshop at the Art & History Museums of Maitland. Students were given the opportunity not only to tour the museum, but also visit the studio of . Finally, students participated in an exciting design challenge, centered on reimagining iconic architecture from across Central Florida.

This concludes our first quarter of workshops for this year. Stay tuned for our second quarter of workshops, coming soon! 🎨

On Saturday, March 7, BAM joined Wallace Development Partners to hold our Architecture and Problem solving workshop for students. This was a valuable learning experience, where students were given the opportunity to visit a project worksite and view construction processes first-hand.

Continuing our celebration of pivotal Black architects this Black History Month, we proudly recognize Roberta Washington - founder of Roberta Washington Architects, known for designing public schools, housing developments, healthcare facilities, and civic buildings that serve communities with purpose and care.

Her work centers on creating equitable, functional spaces that support everyday life while strengthening neighborhoods. Through her practice and advocacy, she continues to expand representation in architecture while demonstrating how thoughtful design can drive social impact and long-term change. 🏗️
