“A sower went out to sow his seed...” (Luke 8:5)

Tomorrow is the Sunday of the Holy Fathers of the 7th Ecumenical Council (4th Sunday of Luke). In this Gospel reading, Christ shares the Parable of the Sower, reminding us that the seed is the Word of God. It calls us to prepare the soil of our hearts with patience, faith, and devotion so that God's truth can take deep root and bear abundant spiritual fruit.

Join us at St. George Bulgarian Orthodox Church for Divine Liturgy tomorrow morning to hear this message and pray together as a community! All are welcome.

Hello St. George Community,

Our Fall Festival is only 3 weeks away. Please mark your calendars and make plans to come and join us.
The Festival this year will be held on TWO DAYS:

Saturday evening, October 24 and then again the next day at noon on Sunday, October 25.

Entertainment will also a bit upgraded this year: we have booked the well-known duo, Nina and Joro Petrov, and we will be adding additional entertainment options.

And as always, our incredible chefs will be ready to impress you with Bulgarian traditional delicacies. The menu will be slightly different for each of the two days, so please make plans to come both days.

This year we will be charging $5 per car for parking (cash or card). All collected funds from parking, food and drink sales are going toward the construction of the new church. This is just one easy way for you to help.

Looking forward to seeing everyone in 3 weeks.

… bring the children to school the Liturgy!☦️

Please be advised of our parish expectations regarding children at the Divine Liturgy:

If your kids are loud, please still come to Liturgy.
If you’re running late because getting everyone dressed and out the door was a battle, please still come to Liturgy.
If your toddler won’t sit still, please still come to Liturgy.
If your baby needs to eat, please still come to Liturgy.
If your child asks questions at the least convenient moment, please still come to Liturgy.
If someone cries, drops a toy, or has to make their third trip to the bathroom, please still come to Liturgy.
If your child doesn’t know all the prayers, responses, or exactly when to sit or stand, please still come to Liturgy.
If you feel like you spent the entire Liturgy managing your children and heard approximately 12% of the homily, please still come to Liturgy.
If Sunday morning feels messy instead of peaceful, please still come to Liturgy.
If you’re worried your children are distracting the people around you, please still come to Liturgy.
If your child has a disability or special needs, please still come to Liturgy.

Children do not learn how to be part of the Church by staying home until they can sit quietly. They learn by being here.

They learn the Sign of the Cross by watching us make it.
They learn the prayers by hearing us pray them.
They learn the Scriptures by hearing the Word of God proclaimed.
They learn reverence by watching us bow and make prostrations.
They learn that Christ is truly present in the Holy Eucharist by seeing the love and reverence with which we approach the Holy Chalice.
They learn that the Church is their home because we make room for them here.

The wiggles, whispers, crying babies, and little voices are not signs that children don’t belong at Liturgy. They are signs that the Church is alive.

So bring the babies. Bring the toddlers. Bring the big kids. Sit where the little ones can see. Step out when you need to, but always come back in.

At Baptism and Chrismation, these children became full members of the Body of Christ. They belong here. They need the grace of the Holy Mysteries, the example of their parents, and the love and patience of their parish family.

Children are not simply the future of the Orthodox Church. They are part of the Church right now!

“Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” (Luke 5:4)

Tomorrow is the First Sunday of Luke. In this Gospel reading, Christ calls Simon Peter and the fishermen to trust Him completely, even after a long night of catching nothing. When they obey His word, their nets overflow. It is a powerful reminder that when we place our trust and labor in God, He transforms our efforts with His abundant grace.

Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me." (Mark 8:34)

Tomorrow is the Sunday after the Elevation of the Holy Cross. Christ's words call us to lay down selfish desires, take up our cross, and follow Him with full trust; a reminder that true strength comes not from self-will, but from surrender to God.

Join us at St. George Bulgarian Orthodox Church for Divine Liturgy tomorrow morning. And afterward, share a cup of coffee, a warm conversation, and the joy of being together as a church family. All are welcome.
