Cub Scout Pack 13 Altadena

Cub Scout Pack 13 Altadena Cub Scout pack meeting at Charles Farnsworth Park monthly. Adventure is waiting. Build yours. Families are encouraged to attend and participate.

Cub Scouting is a program of the Boys Scouts of America and is open to boys and girls from 1st thru 5th grades, with a new program starting this year for kinders. Pack 13 scouts attend a number of area schools including Altadena Arts Magnet, Jackson, Odyssey and Aveson. Alltadena Arts Magnet is our primary school and chartering organization. During the school year we meet as a Pack, with all scout

s and leaders, once a month. Pack meetings are held in the afternoon on one Sunday a month in eastern Altadena. Pack meetings generally include dinner, sharing, various activities, guest speakers, and recognition for achievements. Scouts also meet once per month in grade-level Dens, usually at a den member's home. Boys participate in activities and work on projects that are related to an Adventure and that help them learn the skills they need to progress in rank. Den's also hold a variety of additional activities including tours, educational outings and community service events. In addition to pack and den meetings we have about four camping trips per year, ranging from scout camps like nearby Camp Trask and Camp Cherry Valley on Catalina Island to pack-centered trips to Joshua Tree National Park and other notable locations. We also attend the Gem-o-rama event in Trona, CA in the fall, hold our festive Pinewood Derby in the spring and usually plan one or two events over the summer months as well. Scout's are strongly encourage to participate in all den and pack meetings, though scouts can also work on rank advancement at home. The various camping trips and outings are optional though we encourage each family to participate to the fullest extent their time and energy allows! Scouting is a journey of personal growth and group participation, focused on character building, citizenship and fitness. As a group of dedicated volunteer leaders (ie. parents!) we look forward to walking with our boys on that journey, supporting them, encouraging them and having lots of fun along the way! Pack 13 camped out at the BSA Camp Firestone Cubland Grounds this past weekend in Brea. It was a little hot, to say the least. So we had a water gun war. We played charades in the shade we found. We made leather crafts. We had campfires. A Talent Show. We had smores, hot dogs, hamburgers. We had fun. We saw a rattlesnake with a snack in it's belly. It was digesting and did not rattle at us... but still...I mean....we all had fun!

Last weekend we went to the Cabrillo Tide Pools and the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium in San Pedro. It was a lot of fun and we were told we were the best behaved pack of Cub Scouts that have ever visited. The kids had so much fun. Photos coming.

Our Story

Cub Scouting is a program of the Boys Scouts of America and is open to boys and girls from Kindergarten through 5th grades. Pack 13 scouts attend a number of area schools including Norma Coombs and Waldorf, with Aveson being our primary school and chartering organization. During the school year we meet as a Pack, with all scouts and leaders, once a month. Pack meetings are held in the evening on the 3rd Thursday of the month on campus at Aveson in eastern Altadena. Families are encouraged to attend and participate. Pack meetings generally include a snack, sharing, various activities, guest speakers, and recognition for achievements. Scouts also meet once per month in grade-level Dens, usually at an outdoor location like a park or backyard of a Den-leaders home. Boys participate in activities and work on projects that are related to an Adventure and that helps them learn the skills they need to progress in rank.
