For Session 2 of our Live Rebuilding Series, attendees toured sites during the rough-in stage of construction and explored how building systems come together before drywall and finishes are installed.

This session will explore what happens behind the walls, including building systems, Title 24 energy requirements, and sustainable + resilient construction strategies. We’ll tour active construction sites during the rough-in stage and hear directly from the project team.

Recap: Session 1 of our Live Rebuilding Series focused on site work, foundations, and framing. We welcomed the community to tour active sites to with the goal of providing more clarity and transparency in the design and construction process. Highlighting the Billy, awardee of Best Catalog Plan at the 2026 Rebuild Design Awards. The Billy features a 25’ wide plan, designed specifically to fit on a 40’ wide lot. It’s pre-approved in both LA County and LA City, for use in Altadena, Pasadena, and the Pacific Palisades! Also available in Tudor and Spanish styles - Marlowe and Guillermo.

We often get asked if a chosen home’s exterior colors need to match what is shown in our renderings. The answer is that exterior colors and things like siding styles (e.g. shingle vs lap) are completely customizable - what’s important is the fire-resistant performance of the cladding itself.

This first session will explore the pathway from site preparation to structure, including an overview of the Foothill Catalog’s pre-approved plans, site and lot considerations, foundation systems, and framing.

Introducing a four part live rebuilding series: follow the progress of four Foothill Catalog homes/ADUs (the Lexington, Elizabeth, Opa, and Lily) as they are built across two adjacent sites in Altadena. Each monthly session will be focused on different milestones of construction and feature on-site tours + subject matter experts across trades.

Session One - all about the foundations and framing of a home will be held on Saturday, May 30th. The sessions are free and open to all community members navigating the rebuilding process. Registration will be required as space is limited - more information to follow!
