And that’s a wrap on our Sierra Summer! This group made history as the first OBA cohort to return to the Miter Basin after over a decade—reconnecting with OBA founders and the mission and vision of the organization✨

These students backpacked over New Army Pass and into the Sequoia National Park at over 12,300 ft of elevation. They visited over a dozen lakes along the way and got the explore and learn about the unique ecosystems within the Sierra Nevada range.

We even celebrated a birthday on the trip! Our very own YAC president, who is now a graduated senior. Thank you for spending your special day with us in one of the most incredible places on earth!

These students built life-long friendships, laughed non-stop, and made unforgettable memories—because who can forget moments of intense hiking up mountains with over 50lbs on your back?!

Special shoutout to our amazing instructors Miguel, Clarissa, and Darrell. Thank you for creating a trip to remember for these students.

Congrats to our High Sierra Cohort 2! This group made history as the first OBA cohort to return to the Miter Basin after over a decade—reconnecting with OBA founders and the mission and vision of the organization✨

Congratulations to the first cohort of students who embarked on our annual 9 day and 18 mile journey through the High Sierras backcountry! Shout out to Golden Trout Camp for hosting our group at base camp before they endured the rest of their voyage in the backcountry. Thank you to our wonderful instructors (Jasmine, Jahs’tus, and Vena) for stepping up and contributing to the development of our young stewards. We would also like to show appreciation for the continued support from the Dan Murphy Foundation and the California Community Foundation that allowed the trip to happen.

Proud of another successful annual Seawood trip!

Our OBA students recently completed an incredible 17-day expedition at Jenner Preserve, where they dedicated their time and energy to restoration work, trail maintenance, and hands-on conservation projects. Along the way, they gained valuable experience in invasive species removal, forest restoration, and environmental stewardship while making a lasting impact on the land.

A huge thank you to The Wildlands Conservancy for once again being such exceptional hosts and for providing meaningful conservation training and environmental education. Partnerships like these inspire the next generation of environmental leaders.
