It’s that time of the year again for our young mommies!

From our very first year as an after-school club at Compton High School, we supported teen moms. Our first community project was creating gift bags for two of the teen moms on campus.

We have elevated this offering over the years and it’s time for “In My Diaper Bag”. This is a series for young moms ages 16-24 that offers resource linkage, community connection with other moms, and information on supporting babies from prenatal (pregnant mom) through 3 years old.

These sessions will focus on topics such as:
- Finding employment with a new baby
- Identifying resources to support your pregnancy
- Self-defense! Yes you heard!
- Connections to food, housing, and job programs
- Baby Hygiene and more.

All moms who complete the program will be thrown a community baby shower.

Thanks to our funders: Jewish Community Foundation Los Angeles , Los Angeles County Justice, Care and Opportunities Department and This is a FREE experience. Hot meals, diapers, and transportation via Uber if needed will be provided.

Congratulations to our G.IRL Scout Troop that celebrated their bridging at the Colorado Street Bridge in Pasadena.

This bridging is special because across LA get to walk across the historic bridge in Pasadena to move to the next level of scouting. Its also fun to connect with other members across LA County.

Bridging is when a Daisy moves up to Brownie, Brownie to a Junior, and Junior to a Cadet.

It is a pleasure seeing our youngest members blossom in the troop.

Feel inspired? Consider donating to support a little G.IRLS from the Hood today!

Not only are the spring flowers and bloom, but so is our spring cohort of G.IRLS!

💐🌸🌺

Last Saturday we worked with to learn about careers in floral arrangement, floral arranging as self-care, and we created our own bouquets from scratch.

It smelled like a dream at the G.IRL clubhouse.

We love spending our Saturdays with G.IRLS from the Hood learning something new 🌸🎀

🍃🪾The G.IRLS in nature 🌿

California is honestly one of the best spots to visit all types of climates, walking trails, and natural environments.

The G.IRLS took a nature walk in El Dorado Patks Nature trail and it was such a beautiful experiences

We were led in a nature walk that included a scavenger hunt that challenged what we see, smell and hear.

We saw so many tree variants, hawks and turtles and only a 20 minute drive away from the clubhouse.

🍃siiiiigh🌿 so beautiful.

All of our experiences are FREE to our youth including transportations, meals, and supply cost! Consider supporting the enrichment of G.IRLS from the Hood!

We just wrapped our partnership with California State University, Dominguez Hills, Women's Studies program for this semester.

This is an opportunity for our youth to learn about a local university and the experience directly from undergrads.

🚨 It’s time. Help 100 G.IRLS bloom this spring!🚨

From serving 12 girls in our first year to up to 70 today, we’re now aiming to support 100 girls this spring through our weekly cohort program. With your help, each girl will have access to mentors, resources, meals, supplies, and field trips at absolutely no cost to families.

Here’s how it works:

💜 $100 provides the supplies for one girl to participate in workshops on wellness, youth development, and arts & culture.

💜 Larger gifts help us cover meals, field trips, and transportation support so no girl is left behind.
10 days. 100 supporters. 100 futures.

✨ Be 1 of the 100 ✨Link to donate is in our bio.
Special thanks to our community of supporters who always believe in the power of G.IRLS from the hood. Together we make this possible. 🖤

Did you know that first-year students and transfer students can attend CSUDH FREE starting Fall 2026?

Last Saturday, we took a campus tour of the University that is right in our backyard, hosted and led by the Women’s Studies Department

We learned about the different clubs and supports they have for first-time and continuing students.

We visited the art gallery on-site, which is actually filled with LACMA pieces by African American Artists, and I’m talking BIG-time artists such as Betty Sahr.

Next, we learned about the resources available to women, girls, and gender nonconforming students at the Women’s Resource Center. You can chill here, pick up hyfeine items, connect with other women on camous, and even stop for snacks.

We ended our tour with a visit to farm, where we learned about different herbs and picked a couple to make soaps!

Often overlooked, Cal State Dominguez Hills is a quality affordable options for undergrads who’d like to attend university close to home. There is even housing available!
