www.LakeTahoeWolfRescue.com Although Lake Tahoe Wolf Rescue only became 501(c) in 1994, Executive Director and founder, Pamela Jo has been rescuing Wolfdogs since 1986. In 1991 she founded The Pet Network in Incline Village, Nevada, rescuing and finding homes for domestic pet animals. At the time, Pamela Jo also started a Spay and Release program for feral cats and had introduced a Therapy-Dog pr

ogram to Incline Village, NV. LTWR is no longer a 501[c]3 organization but it remains 100% non profit and all donations go directly to the animals. It is an all-volunteer grass-roots group. Pamela served as Pet Network’s Executive Director for three years from 1992 to 1994. She was an active volunteer on Lake Tahoe's east shore for the Bear League, as well as at local Wildlife Rescue sanctuaries. In 1994 Pamela realized that there was a strong need for Wolfdog rescue, not only in the surrounding area but throughout the U.S. so LTWR was established. For many years Pamela Jo worked alone, taking Wolfdogs from the shelters and bringing them home, rehabilitating them with a holistic regime, and finding forever homes for them. She is a canine behavior consultant. All Lake Tahoe Wolf Rescue's dogs are first evaluated and receive medical exams. They are spayed or neutered if needed. They undergo behavior training to help make them more suitable for life in their new homes. If you are interested in adopting one of our rescues, go to Adoption Requirements on our website to see if you have the basics. In most cases adopters must have past experience with Wolfdogs, and escape-proof containment. Since Wolfdogs are high-maintenance animals, much care is taken to educate the new adopter about all the special needs of their new companion. Follow-up visits from a volunteer - or photos and updates from the adopter - let us know that these animals are happy and thriving. We also assist the new adopter with any questions, behaviors or issues. With quality nutrition, regular exercise, homeopathy and holistic remedies, Lake Tahoe Wolf Rescue has had much success in helping needy wolfdogs blossom into self-confident individuals. Hopefully, all of us in Wolfdog rescue can create awareness so we can prevent the indiscriminate and irresponsible breeding and selling of Wolves and Wolfdogs. Not all of these animals are suited to be pets and many wind up running loose, getting shot at, chained, abused or in a shelter to be euthanized. Help us help them! Donations are greatly appreciated as the cost of spay/neuters, medical treatments, transportation and other expenses continue to rise. You can also purchase cool garments at our on-line stores Bonfire - purchases also help with our rescue efforts. Thank You for your support!

UPDATE: Today Willow's owner, Tye Clark, texted me that Willow killed his cat and so he was having Willow euthanized at Henderson Animal Control in NV.

I immediately called 5 vet clinics plus animal control, and finally AC confirmed that Mr Clark brought their kitty in but did not surrender Willow for euthanizing.

I am beside myself with heartache because I have spent weeks rushing to find this sweet Willow a good home before she would go to a shelter - and I was successful! My very generous and caring friend agreed to foster-to-adopt Willow, and another very qualified Potential Adopter applied today as well. Willow was supposed to be transported to safety in Tehachapi this weekend but never got there due to this incident.

If anyone knows what happened to Willow, please contact me at [email protected]

ORIGINAL POST: Gorgeous and delightful, 5 y/o Willow. Owners rescued her from an abusive situation but can't keep her because she likes to chase their cats and Landlord who does not allow dogs found out about her.

Willow is good with other dogs and is a bit shy upon first meeting, but once properly introduced she is friendly, playful, and has no gender preference. She walks nicely on leash, good recall off leash, no destructive behaviors. Willow will howl for the first 10-15 minutes after owner leaves but then settles down on the couch nicely. Not destructive at all.

She allows handling and is very submissive. Great for vet visits! And she loves car rides, so taking her out for hikes is a plus! She was underweight when owners rescued her and has gained 4 lbs. - she could use some home cooking or quality, fresh-frozen dog foods.
Willow is a cuddle bug, really likes to get her belly rubbed, extremely affectionate, enjoys being brushed and allows her nails to be trimmed! WOW She is vocal and talks to you, adores playing catch and fetch, and loves her toys.

PLEASE HELP! Senior sister and brother need a new home ASAP. British Columbia

Transportation help available!

Chief [darker, brother] and Raven [lighter, sister] are about 11 years old, in good health, have perfect energy, and are calm and loving companions in and around the house. Their senior owners can no longer keep them and are desperate to find a loving home for their beloved friends that they have had since puppies. They were originally rescued from an abusive home.

Chief and Raven hang out on a long tether or sometimes off leash on the property and stay close. They are easy going and affectionate. Owner says they are great at protecting property from wildlife, are used to relaxing around outside, being walked in mellow walks 2 times a day, and otherwise sleep on an enclosed porch or inside the home [housetrained].

They love being in the woods and playing in creeks. Both are good with the dogs they have known, and will be ok if introduced properly to new dogs. They would be best in a home together as the only dogs if possible.

They have been well loved all these years and now find themselves threatened of going to a shelter if a home is not found this summer. A no-kill shelter has agreed to take them but they will spend the rest of their lives in a cage. This is not what their owners want for them as they love them dearly.

If you can help these pups by adopting them together - please go to our website www.LakeTahoeWolfRescue.com to the page WANT TO ADOPT and complete the short questionnaire. Please share. Look at these beauties ... and check out these videos of them

Plans for going to our foster in Tehachapi CA - Willow.

Gorgeous and delightful, 5-year-old Willow needs a home very soon. Owners rescued her from an abusive situation but couldn't keep her because Landlord does not allow dogs and wants her out.

Willow weighs only 42lbs, is spayed, microchipped and up to date on vacc's.

Willow is good with other dogs and is a bit shy upon first meeting, but once properly introduced she is great and has no age or gender preference. She walks nicely on leash, good recall off leash, no destructive behaviors. She also has a tendency to chase their cat at times which is not good, so we are looking for a home without cats, tiny dogs or children.

This pup currently has 7' cinderblock walls and has never attempted to escape but we recommend at least 6' fencing for this beauty. She allows handling and is very submissive. Great for vet visits! And she loves car rides so taking her out for hikes is a plus for her, she is an energetic playful pup. She was underweight when they rescued her and has gained 4 lbs. - she could use some home cooking or quality, fresh-frozen dog foods to gain more weight.

More about Willow? Well, she is a real cuddle bug, likes to get her belly rubbed, extremely affectionate, enjoys being brushed and allows her nails to be trimmed! WOW She is vocal and talks to you when she wants something, delights in playing catch and fetch, and loves her toys. So much fun!

Transportation help available too! Come on folks!
Want this girl to come live with you? Visit our website www.LakeTahoeWolfRescue.com and go to the page WANT TO ADOPT. Please follow the instructions. She is waiting to hear from you!

RESCUED! Boxers and Buddies took this beautiful boy but he still needs a home. [MATEO was on the Euthanasia List at the Merced shelter. ]

He is about 3-4 years old, beautiful blue eyes, weighs in around 70lbs and will be neutered and vaccinated if someone adopts him. Otherwise ...

Mateo is good with other dogs and is calm and neutral, he does not try to solicit play but that may change at a home where he can let his hair down and frolic. Same with small dogs [see video]. He visited the Cat Room and had no interest so may be able to be trained to live with a cat. Mateo walks nicely on leash, does not destroy his belongings in his kennel, and has no food aggression with the other dogs. He is a pretty reserved kind of guy. Great company for someone retired or works at home to get attention as an only dog - or have companions as well.

This poor boy was a stray, and flies were biting on his ears relentlessly - just look at them. A little Aloe Vera should help along with some TLC. Transportation is available so help this boy get out of jail - NOW. Time is of the essence! Please share!

Or ... you can contact his networker Erin at [email protected]
Look at this beautiful face! He is a calm boy that would love to go for hikes - or just hang out with you and be loved. Please help Mateo get another chance at a happy life.

HISTORY:
Sacramento - Front Street Animal Shelter was holding this incredibly handsome 1 y/o White Husky, Olaf. His time on the Euthanization List was up. Olaf was RESCUE ONLY because he has some resource protection over his food. Well, you know how they test - put the food bowl down, a fake hand to move the bowl away. Olaf started eating quicker but continued to watch the hand. At one point as the hand moved more, he nipped at the hand. So poor Olaf failed, and cannot be rehomed to the public. He would have been euthanized if a Rescue did not pull him yesterday. Now he will be able to work with a trainer and get a professional evaluation. Soon they will look for an experienced handler and Olaf will be rehomed!

There are a few videos of this boy with his handler at the shelter in this YouTube link. https://youtube.com/shorts/eI-4N133yEM

Olaf is affectionate, can be handled all over his body, walked and is just a love. Olaf was walked with a female about the same size. Loose body while getting leashed up and walking out of his kennel. He saw the female and perked his head up, we walked over and he draped his front leg and head over her neck and shoulders. She moved away, he put all paws on the floor, walked up to her, then began licking all over her face. The female stood there for a few seconds and then walked away and kept her distance from him. He was relaxed with loose body and tail wagging. Took back to his kennel. This young pup just wants to have some fun and is having a ball at his foster home until he travels.

Please help us with donations to get Olaf to Colorado. Transport is standing by!

Reno, NV - Lakota still needs a home! No inquiries! This gorgeous 4-year-old Husky has a sharp mind and a gentle soul. She is fully vetted, healthy, and absolutely striking to look at — truly the kind of dog that turns heads everywhere she goes. She is very shy until she builds trust and gets to know you. A patient, kind person would be perfect for her. Why is it so hard to find a home for this sweetie?

Lakota does very well with the other large dogs she’s known, and has shown herself to be brave, confident, and respectful. She has not yet been tested with small dogs or cats. Because of her breed, intelligence, and independent nature, she would do best with an experienced northern-breed owner who understands her needs.

She loves her walks and is great on a leash. Running freely in a safe yard and dipping her paws in water are some of her favorite things. While she isn’t a big fan of car rides, she makes up for it with her loyal and loving personality once she’s settled.

If Lakota gets frightened she may chew through her harness so a Martingale collar does fine when out walking. She has great recall in the yard but has never been off leash outside of her yard. She did escape once and stayed close to home. Lakota is very submissive with people and kids and prefers a calm disciplined environment. She knows Sit, Stay, and Slow Down.

Lakota is well behaved and housetrained but is not allowed indoors because foster has too many little dogs. Lakota has a 10 x 12 kennel outside where she is kept 24/7 but she is very lonely and would rather be with you on a hike or snuggling inside. It's getting very hot and we want to place her in a cool climate - preferably where there is snow! Colorado, the Sierra ??

She is not destructive but will look for opportunities to get out of her yard to get chickens [she currently only has a 4' fence so can't be left unsupervised]. She should have a secure 6-7' fenced yard to play in.

This girl is very shy when she first meets you [see video] but is affectionate and loves to go for walks. She does have some Stranger Danger so could be an escape risk in the beginning until she gets comfortable in her new home. Lakota would do best with an experienced handler to teach her how to trust new people.

A home with a friendly male dog may be just what she needs, but Lakota would also be great as an only dog - she loves to be with you. Transportation help is available.

If you are interested in adopting this little beauty, please go to www.laketahoewolfrescue.com to the page WANT TO ADOPT and follow the directions. We would love to hear from you!
Look at those eyes! She needs a home now ...

ADOPTION FINALIZED TODAY! - South Lake Tahoe, Nevada - meet Kai - This gorgeous girl's owner passed away and nobody knew it for a month. Kai was with her owner waiting for someone to come help. Officers thought Kai had passed too because she was unresponsive at first. She had given up hope . . . but she was so happy when they led her out into the fresh air, gave her water and brought her to the neighbor.

Kai is currently in a wonderful foster home - foster-to-adopt - and she is very happy there. See new photos!

Kai is believed to be about 3 years old and weighs about 65 lbs. She is spayed, beautiful brown eyes, good with people and used to live with cats. She walks nicely on leash, likes to dig, and knows basic training [Sit, Stay]. She was a little shy with men but has taken to the woman's grandson. Kai LOVES to play and chase the ball.

If you can foster or adopt another of our rescues, please visit our website www.laketahoewolfrescue.com and go to the page WANT TO ADOPT [we use that form for fosters too]. Just follow the directions.
