Lake Tahoe Wolf Rescue

Lake Tahoe Wolf Rescue Lake Tahoe Wolf Rescue is not a sanctuary. We are a foster-based Rescue
in California. If you are interested in fostering or adopting
please go to our website!

www.LakeTahoeWolfRescue.com Although Lake Tahoe Wolf Rescue only became 501(c) in 1994, Executive Director and founder, Pamela Jo has been rescuing Wolfdogs since 1986. In 1991 she founded The Pet Network in Incline Village, Nevada, rescuing and finding homes for domestic pet animals. At the time, Pamela Jo also started a Spay and Release program for feral cats and had introduced a Therapy-Dog pr

ogram to Incline Village, NV. LTWR is no longer a 501[c]3 organization but it remains 100% non profit and all donations go directly to the animals. It is an all-volunteer grass-roots group. Pamela served as Pet Network’s Executive Director for three years from 1992 to 1994. She was an active volunteer on Lake Tahoe's east shore for the Bear League, as well as at local Wildlife Rescue sanctuaries. In 1994 Pamela realized that there was a strong need for Wolfdog rescue, not only in the surrounding area but throughout the U.S. so LTWR was established. For many years Pamela Jo worked alone, taking Wolfdogs from the shelters and bringing them home, rehabilitating them with a holistic regime, and finding forever homes for them. She is a canine behavior consultant. All Lake Tahoe Wolf Rescue's dogs are first evaluated and receive medical exams. They are spayed or neutered if needed. They undergo behavior training to help make them more suitable for life in their new homes. If you are interested in adopting one of our rescues, go to Adoption Requirements on our website to see if you have the basics. In most cases adopters must have past experience with Wolfdogs, and escape-proof containment. Since Wolfdogs are high-maintenance animals, much care is taken to educate the new adopter about all the special needs of their new companion. Follow-up visits from a volunteer - or photos and updates from the adopter - let us know that these animals are happy and thriving. We also assist the new adopter with any questions, behaviors or issues. With quality nutrition, regular exercise, homeopathy and holistic remedies, Lake Tahoe Wolf Rescue has had much success in helping needy wolfdogs blossom into self-confident individuals. Hopefully, all of us in Wolfdog rescue can create awareness so we can prevent the indiscriminate and irresponsible breeding and selling of Wolves and Wolfdogs. Not all of these animals are suited to be pets and many wind up running loose, getting shot at, chained, abused or in a shelter to be euthanized. Help us help them! Donations are greatly appreciated as the cost of spay/neuters, medical treatments, transportation and other expenses continue to rise. You can also purchase cool garments at our on-line stores Bonfire - purchases also help with our rescue efforts. Thank You for your support!

Burbank, CA - Getting Urgent! Wanda needs a new home!
Wanda is about 1-2 years old, brown eyes, is in good health and weighs about 50 lbs. She is adorable, cuddly and playful, and was spayed Aug 19th. Transportation help to you is available for this long-legged beauty!

Wanda is currently in a Foster Home with both working full-time jobs, and in Fall they will be working even more hours. They won't have the time that this young pup needs on a daily basis.
Wanda gets taken out for potty breaks 3-4 times a day with one of those being extended playtime. Fosters live in an apartment and have no fencing so Wanda can't run around without being leashed. She would love a home with a big, fenced yard with hikes in the forest - and maybe even a place that gets snow!

This beautiful pup is shy with new dogs but is submissive, as well as submissive with new humans. Wanda loves to ride in the car and is well behaved indoors. She even loves boat rides! Wanda is an extremely sweet and cuddly girl. Since she is a rescue we don't know much about her past. She’s easily startled but is curious about people and other dogs (in that order). In the few weeks that Fosters have had her she’s come out of her shell a lot and loves to play - she enjoys life more now!

We would love to place this pretty girl in an adult home with someone that is around a lot [works at home, retired, etc.]. Someone that can take her out on hikes and spend time giving her love and attention would be perfect for her. Maybe even another doggie companion - but she would also be great as an only dog going on playdates with friends who have dogs. And a plus would be somewhere with snow!

If you are interested in Wanda, please go to our website www.LakeTahoeWolfRescue.com to the page WANT TO ADOPT and just follow the directions. We would love to hear from you! Transportation help is available to you!

Grass Valley, CA - Kai, a 4 1/2-year-old neutered Husky mix, is currently in a foster home and looking for his forever home. We thought he would be Foster/Adopted, but they decided to continue to foster other dogs to save lives. So Kai must move on to his forever home.

Kai is very social and loves other dogs, adults, and children. He goes to the dog park regularly, is potty trained, up-to-date on shots, and heartworm negative. He loves to be brushed, enjoys cuddling, and would love to have another dog in the home to play with. He is very adoptable!

This boy loves to chase, so PLEASE NOTE that he requires a home with no cats or livestock, and he would do best with a person or family who is retired or home often. No kids/cats/ tiny dogs please.
Please let me know if you or anyone you know might be interested in adopting Kai. He is a great dog, just no cats, chickens or ducks. He loves to chase them and some ducks got injured or died.
More about Kai - He weighs about 55 lbs., has vaccinations and is neutered. He walks nicely on leash and loves to play with the other dogs at the dog park. He does like to dig!

Kai has a little Labrador in him and has that calm, loving and affectionate way about him. He is well behaved indoors and was living with 5 other dogs on a farm - he is very social to everyone, just loves to be loved. He would really like a cool place in the Sierra, Colorado, WA where he can play in the snow. That would be nice!

Please go to our website www.LakeTahoeWolfRescue.com to the page WANT TO ADOPT and follow the directions. Please share this post!
If you would also like more information on Kai, you can email Kiley at [email protected]

Wanda does ok, but howls or barks intermittently [not continuously]. Wanda is still a bit nervous but an extremely sweet girl. Since she is a rescue we don't know much about her past. It's really lots of fun while learning about products, playing games and sharing great recipes. Every dollar we raise goes to help the animals with spay/neutering, food, transport and other costs. So you will be helping while you cook!

Not only that, your donation will be doubled if you join before it ends in August. How about that!

We hope to see you there!

Bradenton, FL - this little 7-year-old beauty DAPHNE needs a new home. We have not had any inquires that were qualified and she still needs a home!
Mom loves beautiful Daphne dearly but has a toddler - and a baby on the way! Daphne has the typical behavior of nipping to test you - like she will nip a butt, or take a hat off you, or pull your hair. It's ok for adults and we can discourage [or laugh] but a baby can't and their skin is very tender and delicate. Dad got this girl from a breeder long before babies came along.

Transportation help is available for Daphne to get to her forever home. So please consider her.

Daphne weighs about 62 lbs. and could use a little more real food in her diet, like some of those fresh-frozen meals. She is not gaining weight on kibble. She has beautiful gold eyes and is healthy, up to date on vaccines and is spayed. She is well behaved indoors, can be left alone for reasonable periods [a couple of hours]. No significant separation anxiety but having a canine companion is helpful. She is shy and will take a little time to acclimate to a new home, but with lots of attention, walks in the woods, playing in a creek - she will get happy pretty quickly.

Someone home a lot - retired, works at home - would be great for this sweetie! Daphne has a little food guarding with people but not with her current canine companion - but they are fed next to each other which could be the issue - so we advised separating to avoid guarding at all.
She lives with another large dog and has coexisted successfully with other large dogs. We have seen her best body language with large male dogs. [LTWR does not rehome females with females, or with cats/little dogs/children]. Daphne is currently tethered in her yard because she can clear their 6' fence easily, so she needs a new home with lean ins, or 7'-8' fencing. She should be able to run and play and not be tied!

If you would like to have Daphne come live with you and you have the necessary experience [northern breeds or wolfdogs] and environment, please go to our website www.LakeTahoeWolfRescue.com to the page WANT TO ADOPT and follow the directions.

Or email Pamela at [email protected] Look at this gorgeous girl! always smiling!

UPDATE: Today Willow's owner, Tye Clark, texted me that Willow killed his cat and so he was having Willow euthanized at Henderson Animal Control in NV.

I immediately called 5 vet clinics plus animal control, and finally AC confirmed that Mr Clark brought their kitty in but did not surrender Willow for euthanizing.

I am beside myself with heartache because I have spent weeks rushing to find this sweet Willow a good home before she would go to a shelter - and I was successful! My very generous and caring friend agreed to foster-to-adopt Willow, and another very qualified Potential Adopter applied today as well. Willow was supposed to be transported to safety in Tehachapi this weekend but never got there due to this incident.

If anyone knows what happened to Willow, please contact me at [email protected]

ORIGINAL POST: Gorgeous and delightful, 5 y/o Willow. Owners rescued her from an abusive situation but can't keep her because she likes to chase their cats and Landlord who does not allow dogs found out about her.

Willow is good with other dogs and is a bit shy upon first meeting, but once properly introduced she is friendly, playful, and has no gender preference. She walks nicely on leash, good recall off leash, no destructive behaviors. Willow will howl for the first 10-15 minutes after owner leaves but then settles down on the couch nicely. Not destructive at all.

She allows handling and is very submissive. Great for vet visits! And she loves car rides, so taking her out for hikes is a plus! She was underweight when owners rescued her and has gained 4 lbs. - she could use some home cooking or quality, fresh-frozen dog foods.
Willow is a cuddle bug, really likes to get her belly rubbed, extremely affectionate, enjoys being brushed and allows her nails to be trimmed! WOW She is vocal and talks to you, adores playing catch and fetch, and loves her toys.

ADOPTED! Senior sister and brother - British Columbia

Chief [darker, brother] and Raven [lighter, sister] are about 11 years old, in good health, have perfect energy, and are calm and loving companions in and around the house. Their senior owners can no longer keep them and are desperate to find a loving home for their beloved friends that they have had since puppies. They were originally rescued from an abusive home.

Chief and Raven hang out on a long tether or sometimes off leash on the property and stay close. They are easy going and affectionate. Owner says they are great at protecting property from wildlife, are used to relaxing around outside, being walked in mellow walks 2 times a day, and otherwise sleep on an enclosed porch or inside the home [housetrained].

They love being in the woods and playing in creeks. Both are good with the dogs they have known, and will be ok if introduced properly to new dogs. They would be best in a home together as the only dogs if possible.

They have been well loved all these years and now find themselves threatened of going to a shelter if a home is not found this summer. A no-kill shelter has agreed to take them but they will spend the rest of their lives in a cage. This is not what their owners want for them as they love them dearly.

If you can help these pups by adopting them together - please go to our website www.LakeTahoeWolfRescue.com to the page WANT TO ADOPT and complete the short questionnaire. Please share. Look at these beauties ... and check out these videos of them
