UPDATE 9-19-24 9:00 am, I just spoke with 2 Alsip Police officers and they have no knowledge of any threats at this point to any of the schools in Alsip. Marist however had a threat, Chicago Police have been on scene investigating. Chicago Police is handling the investigation, Alsip Pd is ready to assist if needed, but CPD got an early jump on it and has been there long before students arrived, and it appears the students are in school as I see students walking in and being dropped off. Also Worth district 127 received threats yesterday and issues a statement. But, as of this time there has been no known threats to the Alsip elementary schools or Prairie Junior High. Officers did also mention this threats being related to tick tock and have been ongoing the past couple of months.

WARNING of POSSIBLE Local School Violence/Threats-Nathan Hale and possibly others in the area. It appears this is a nationwide problem today 9/19/2024

I tagged Alsip Police Department in this post so hopefully they could clarify any actual threats they are aware of or dismiss any rumors that may be spreading.

To address the issues of school safety in the Alsip and surround towns; I am hearing through various different local town pages that there have been threats of school place violence of some sort, specifically, one of them being Nathan Hale in Crestwood. I unfortunately don’t have any further details on that situation or other schools. Apparently, from what I gathered, It seems tick tock is playing some sort of role in this and that MANY schools, not just our area but nationwide are having threat issues. I personally haven’t received any text alerts but then again I have no children in school. I encourage you be up to date with your childrens school and to talk to your children and be sure to let them know how important it is to speak up if they hear anything or see anything suspicious to report it to an adult, the police, and or school officials. Check with your child’s schools to see if there are any issues or warnings. Obviously, being a parent, it is your call to keep your child home if you feel it is unsafe. I hope this is a hoax of some sort, and no violence occurs at all. I wish I couldn’t understand more about these threats and what role exactly tick tock has to do with them, but I am just not up to speed. I am hearing other schools nearby were having threats of violence as well, I cannot confirm any other school except Nathan Hale. Remember, myself and no admins on this page are part of the police department or school administrators so I can only work with what I am seeing on other pages. Please stay vigilant and keep a good line of communication with your children about these unfortunate types of topics. If anyone has information that is confirmed please post it below as well any type of explanation of the role of tick tock in this. I do not have tick tock, but am curious to see if it is actually playing some sort of role in this.

Again, to clarify, I am posting this out of an abundance of caution to keep everyone safe, I do not wish to create mass hysteria all over, however I am reading that Nathan Hale has had credible threats, parents were contacted and Crestwood Police are investigating. I have not heard anything specific to other schools in our area, but if you have received information from any school, good or bad, please share it here. Thanks everybody and please stay safe vigilant. I hope this is all hearsay and nothing comes from it, but I posted this just make others aware and to be cautious if it true.

Again, please comment any confirmed reports for any schools in the area, any info regarding the role of tick tock. Keep in mind we are trying not to speculate things but keep information as accurate as possible, thank you for all your help!

Hey everyone, just need a quick show of hands, are you all able to see a place to post something to this page yourself? I can’t tell from settings, I want to make sure others can post to the page. Please let me know in the comments, thanks!

It seems to be awfully quiet lately as crime is concerned. Hopefully that is the case, because, as a reminder this page is ran by citizens of Alsip and has no affiliation with the Village of Alsip. This page is designed for people to report crimes or issues in their area to let others be aware and be vigilant.

Another reminder to those of you that may have elderly neighbors, be sure to check on them with this heat we are experiencing. A lot of our elders in the neighborhood are on fixed incomes, and sometimes can’t afford to run their air conditioning or fix it if it is broken.

Also, summer is a great time to get out and meet some of your neighbors you may not know. Networking with your neighbors is best way to keep our community safe and crime free. When we all work together as a community, that’s when positive change can be seen. It can be as simple as introducing yourself to one of your neighbors and letting them know something simple like, “hey, if your going on vacation anytime soon, just let us know and we can keep an eye on your house for you”. If you see someone or something suspicious that is not an emergency please call the Non emergency line at 708-385-6131. I’m proud to say we have a womderful group of diverse residents here, lots of kids playing outside, and overall, a friendly community. I have lived here since I was a baby, over 35 years, and this is probably the best conditions I have seen Alsip in, so let’s all do our part and keep it going! Be kind to your neighbors and be aware of what’s going on around you. I hope all of Alsip has a safe and fun filled summer!
