The Campership application for Scouts from the Greater New York Councils is now open. The deadline for initial review is February 29th. Scouts must have a deposit of $65 in the camp registration system to recieve an award notification from the campership committee.
The 2024 Campership Award Application is now Open for GNYC Units. Scouts from Greater New York Councils units can complete the campership application at: www.nycscouting.org/campership
Campership awards are limited. Please submit your campership application by February 29th for first-round consideration. Applications received after February 29th will be considered based on the availability of funding.
There are some important updates to our campership award process for the upcoming camping season. Our goal is to streamline the process, ensuring that every Scout has the best opportunity to benefit from our programs. Here are the key changes:
Initial Review of Campership Applications: Starting this year, the campership committees will begin reviewing campership requests following February 29th. It's important to note that applications received after this date will still be considered, but awards will be allocated based on the remaining available funds.
Registration Requirement for Camperships: In order to qualify for a campership, it is required that all Scouts have a paid deposit of $65 registered in the event registration system for the camp. Award letters will only be sent to those families with Scouts with a paid deposit in the registration system. Please understand that if a Scout is not registered, the allocated campership may be revoked and the funds returned to the pool to assist other families in need.
Campership Committee Review and Award Allocation: We aim to have all campership awards reviewed by the borough campership committees by March 15th. This timeline ensures that we can allocate the awards to the Scouts in the registration system before April 1st, when the merit badge system for class scheduling becomes available. Scouts must have their camp fees paid in full to sign up for classes.
Ongoing Award Allocation: We are committed to allocating the available campership funds until they are fully awarded, but funds are limited. Our aim is to support as many Scouts as possible in their journey of growth and learning.
