Happy Friday everyone! We are happy to share with you the brand new members of our brush clearing crew! These amazing Brachiosaurus will be helping us maintain the defensible perimeter of Wright's Field in Alpine.

If you would like to donate, please visit this link: https://bit.ly/bcltdonation

We greatly appreciate any donations! Brachiosaurus eat A LOT, and the cost of waste management is... large.

We hope you have a wonderful weekend!

We'll go first, the world-famous primatologist and anthropologist Jane Goodall.

It is and there are so many ways to give!

We have several volunteer opportunities posted on our page that are easy to sign up for and have very flexible "schedules". These are great opportunities for college students looking to get experience in their field, retired outdoor enthusiasts looking to spend a little extra time at Wright's FIeld, and all those in between looking to just help out when they can!

Another way to give is financially. Wright's Field requires funding to upkeep and improve. Without funding, services like invasive species removal, trail restoration, wildlife monitoring, and more may suffer. Additionally, funds are necessary to keep up with the monthly costs of maintaining a porta-potty and dumpster at the trailhead. You can donate using the button on this post!

Alternatively, you can donate your used goods. Back Country Land Trust is looking for a variety of goods and materials. At the moment we are in need of binoculars for our outdoor education program to allow students in MEUSD, AUSD, and at Viejas Tribal Education Center to go birdwatching. Additionally, we will almost always accept fencing materials to help protect sensitive areas around Wright's Field from off-road vehicles, off-leash dogs, and other intrusions.

Not able to do any of the above? Surely somebody you know may be able to! Please spread the word with your friends and community, and sign up for our newsletter to keep in touch with us!

Thank you in advance for anything you are able to give! We look forward to being stewards of the land with you.

Are you a "people person" wanting to share your love and enthusiasm for the outdoors with others? BCLT is looking for docents to lead occasional tours around Wright’s Field. We are looking for a variety of volunteers who may have knowledge in one or more of the following categories: the cultural and historical significance of Wright’s Field, ornithology and bird identification, botany and San Diego native plants, geology, and more. Tours will typically be given on weekends. Please apply to learn more!

This volunteer opportunity can be as much commitment as you are interested in giving! Roles vary from doing wildlife tracking, trail camera placement and upkeep, wildlife documentation, wildlife photography, and more! If you find yourself at Wright’s Field frequently, this role could be as easy as using iNaturalist to upload observations of species observed during your hike! Apply to learn more.

Are you a creative outdoor enthusiast interested in working to create content for our Instagram, Facebook, and website? This would be a great low commitment opportunity for nature-lovers who are also interested in marketing, photography, creative writing, and more! A volunteer in this position could take photos and write captions for posts, write blog posts for our website and newsletter, help manage social media accounts, and/or assist with other related activities. Apply to learn more!

Want to help, but not sure in what way? Reply to this job posting with a bit of information about yourself and we can see if there is something that you could help out with at BCLT/ Wright's Field!

ACE (American Conservation Experience) has been working tirelessly over the past week to retreat several properties that had highly invasive arundo (Arundo donax) previously removed. They flew through these retreatments so fast that they were able to get to work on a very dense and mature forest of arundo that is taking over this riparian area. To learn more about this program check our post from June 11th of this year, or visit our website!

Thank you for all of the hard work in cleaning up Alpine’s watershed, ACE!
