A Second Later was created in order to spread the message of the dangers of distracted driving. I hope to have an impact on this dangerous trend.

I am excited to share what I hope will be a very large part of my life. I recently created a new initiative called A Second Later to spread the message of the dangers of distracted driving. I know that many of you are very familiar with my accident and the challenges I have faced. A Second Later has inspired me to focus my attention on achieving something big! While you are familiar

with the beginning of the story – I hope you find the end to be new and inspiring. This morning, I had the opportunity to appear on “15 Minutes of Fame’ with Jeff Veale.Their time zone was 10 hours ahead of the United States, so it’s exciting to know my message is reaching people across the world!

Every year on the third Wednesday in May, communities, healthcare professionals, advocates, and support organizations recognize National Trauma Day which is a day dedicated to raising awareness about traumatic injuries, prevention, recovery, and the lasting impact trauma can have on individuals and families. At the Crash Support Network, National Trauma Day holds deep meaning. For many crash survivors, trauma does not end when the collision is over. In fact, for some, that is when the hardest part of healing begins.

I hosted a webinar with students from S. Forsyth High School who are part of a club working on a distracted driving project. I was able to share helpful contacts and ideas to support their work. It felt incredibly rewarding to help these students with their school project!

I met yesterday with several students from South Forsyth High School who are working on a video about drunk and distracted driving. This video will compete in a competition in Indianapolis, and they asked me for ideas and potential contacts.

The Georgia Department of Transportation invited me to create a blog for them, and they were so pleased with the results that they chose to film a segment to accompany it. Instead of using it only for Distracted Driving Awareness Month in April, they’ve decided to feature it year-round

450 students filled the auditorium at Dunwoody High School to hear my message today. Grateful for the opportunity—and hoping every single one of them has a safe and unforgettable prom night.
