Did you know that Partners for Care, in partnership with Zetech University, has established five computer schools within different prisons in Kenya?

We’ve seen time and time again that education has the power to transform the lives of both the students and their families. And who needs that kind of transformation more than someone who started off on the wrong foot?

These classrooms don’t just teach the skills necessary to secure employment — they act as a means of rehabilitation, and prepare each student for reintegration into society!

Kilifi not only sits on the coast of the Indian Ocean, but is also home to many rivers and creeks that run out into it. And although it’s extremely beautiful for this reason, it’s also considered a high-risk area for contracting malaria.

Many families who live there, especially those on remote islands, don’t have the preventative resources they need. Some mothers, out of desperation to keep their children safe at night, wrap them in plastic — simply because that’s all they have available.

So you can imagine the relief these mothers feel when the Partners for Care team in Kilifi hand-delivers bed nets to families in need!

No more plastic. No more suffocation. Just protection 🥰

Looking to get mom a meaningful and stylish gift this Mother’s Day? Why not shop our new INUA collection!

Each bag and accessory is made in Kenya by local artisans. So not only do they create meaningful jobs within the community, but 100% of all profit goes directly into Partners for Care programs that lift up those in need!

That means that every bag purchased also provides bednets to mothers and children in need, mobility devices for the disabled, and safe drinking water for classrooms. These bags are so much more than a standout statement; they’re the definition of INUA (Swahili for lift up or elevate)!

Not only is Anne a mother of three, but four years ago, she and her children fled to Kenya as refugees from their home in Rwanda.

Looking for a way to support her family in a new country, Anne began working as a cook and cleaner at a Partners for Care Sewing School. But little did she know that that job was about to drastically transform her life…

Intrigued by the classes, she decided to enroll, and as an employee of the school wasn’t required to pay tuition. Just three months later, Anne graduated with a brand new set of skills and a hope for her future. She continued to cook and clean, saving diligently all the while. And now, because of her hard work and determination, is self-employed as a seamstress specializing in African garments!

What an amazing example of what a mother can do, and an amazing testimony to the power of education 🎓

Emmanuel was born without disability, but everything changed when a scary fall led to the amputation of both legs at 17 years-old. Suddenly, Emmanuel found himself dependent on his mother, relying on her strength to carry him from place to place.

But transformation came through the Partners for Care Minimart Program — where recipients receive a mobility cart outfitted with a cooler! This allowed Emmanuel to start his own business selling cool water, groceries, and handmade beadwork. Everywhere he goes, his store goes with him!

Emmanuel used to feel like a burden to his mother and family, but now, he pays rent and school fees for his three siblings with the profit he makes from his shop. From despair to a life full of purpose, Emmanuel is just one of thousands whose life has been forever changed by the Minimart Program ❤️

This Easter was an extra joyous one for Mobility Director Mary Wang’ang’a and her team with the arrival of a shipping container from Mobility Worldwide MO Columbia!

Inside the container were 177 mobility carts, 56 walkers, 54 crutches, 20 canes, 9 wheelchairs, 3 wheel rollators, 22 sewing machines, 8 ground mats, and 10 shelving units.

Overwhelmed by such generosity, Mary sent out a message saying, “From the bustling streets of Nairobi to rural villages, your kindness will deliver dignity, opportunity, and the sweet freedom of motion to countless Kenyans.”

Thank you, Mobility Worldwide for bringing hope and mobility to so many this Easter!

At a young age, Wambui loved all things fashion, and would sit with a notebook to sketch out the designs he saw in his head. As an adult, a friend introduced him to a Partners for Care sewing school, and Wambui began to transform!

Seeing his passion and zeal, his aunt gifted him with his very own sewing machine, and now, he creates African-inspired attire that blends the traditional with the modern.

It’s always so exciting to see a young man or woman begin to build their legacy, and we’re so thankful we have partners like you who sew into so many young people’s lives and dreams. Thank you! 🪡❤️🧵

Wife and mother, Christine, never received a formal education while growing up. As a result, she felt hesitant and uneasy when she thought about joining a Partners For Care Adult Education Program.

Christine decided to visit one class just to see what it was all about, and 6 months later, found herself graduating from that very program! And because of the literacy and financial skills she gained, Christine and her husband were then able to open their very own business, and say their lives have completely transformed 🥳

We’re so proud of Christine for her bravery and commitment, and are so thankful we have partners like you who make transformations like this possible!

In 2014, Leah suddenly found herself unable to walk, and for the next 11 years, never left her home. So words can’t adequately express the emotion she felt when the Partners for Care team brought Leah her very own mobility cart!

For the first time in over a decade, Leah was able to leave the house to attend church and visit friends. It’s no wonder the joy on her face was infectious! She didn’t just receive mobility…She got her entire life back!
