The Alpharetta Police Cadet Program is open to youth ages 14–20 and gives young adults a hands-on look at public safety, teamwork, responsibility, and the real-world skills that come with it.

**We meet every Tuesday at 6:30 PM at 2565 Old Milton Parkway, Alpharetta, 30009.**

As part of the program, cadets get opportunities to:
• Ride along with Alpharetta officers
• Train using real-life style scenarios
• Build communication and decision-making skills
• Compete in annual cadet competitions
• Develop confidence, discipline, and leadership

Yesterday, we had a front row seat to watch as Cadet Lieutenant Shah traded in his cadet rank to become an official Private First Class with the Army’s Georgia National Guard!!

Graduating from boot camp at Fort Jackson, SC, he’s now headed off to the next step in his training to become a field vehicle mechanic.

CONGRATULATIONS, PFC Shah — the 919 is INCREDIBLY PROUD of your hard work and can’t wait to see what comes next (just make sure you stop in for a meeting when you’re back in town)!!

CONGRATS to two of our very own mentors — Officers Butler & Makhoul — who are now OFFICIALLY CERTIFIED Drug Recognition Experts (DRE)!

Earning this certification is no small accomplishment …
Officers must develop a highly detailed understanding of drug impairment, physiology, vital signs, eye examinations, drug categories, and the standardized evaluation process used to identify and document impairment. After 160 hours of intensive training — including classroom instruction, testing, practical evaluations, and field training — officers are required to demonstrate their knowledge and skill in real-world evaluations under the supervision of experienced DRE instructors to achieve their certification.

So INCREDIBLY proud of these two and to have mentors who continue to challenge themselves and expand their professional knowledge, bringing that experience to the cadets.

Another Saturday dawned bright and early for the cadets cause it was COMPETITION DAY!!

This past weekend, Post #919 joined 16 other teams at Cobb County's Public Safety Village for an awesome day of scenarios — catching up with other posts and learning some new things to take home.

Thanks to all the agencies hosting scenarios and their role-players, cadets were able to work through many unique situations using their knowledge and skills to best solve each one. At the end of each scenario, cadets then met with the judges and role-players to get feedback and learn a few new ways to handle similar situations in the future. After six different events, a lot of sweat, strategy discussions (and probably more sweat), Post #919 brought home several trophies including a pretty important one — Most Professional Team Award.

3rd Place – Suspicious Person
1st Place - Male Walk-Up PT
1st Place Overall

We’re so proud of the hard work these cadets have put in working together, learning to function as a team, but most of all we’re proud of how they responded to each scenario with professionalism and a mindset ready to learn!

Our hearts are broken.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Communications Supervisor, Paul Miller.

Paul dedicated almost 20 years of service to our agency and spent the last 3 years serving as a Communications Supervisor, where his leadership, professionalism, and commitment to our team made a lasting impact. He was even awarded the Supervisor of the Year Award in 2025.

Beyond his acknowledgments, Paul was a valued coworker, a husband, and a friend. He led with kindness, patience, and as most know, humor.

He will be missed by everyone who had the privilege of working alongside him.

Rest in peace, Paul. We’ll take it from here. 🤍
