Today is LGMD Awareness Day. But for parents like us, every day is LGMD day. đź’šđź’ś
It’s there when we help our child get up, worry about another fall, or plan an outing around how far they can walk.
It’s the quiet worry about tomorrow—and the joy when our child does something they have worked so hard to achieve.
We wish we could take the struggle away. We keep looking for answers, asking questions and hoping that research will bring more possibilities.
To every parent raising a child with limb-girdle muscular dystrophy: you don’t have to feel strong every day. You can feel hopeful and frightened at the same time. You can be grateful for today and still wish things were different.
Today, we want the world to understand what our families live with every day—and to see our children beyond their diagnosis. Their personalities. Their friendships. Their dreams.
To every family living this journey: we see you. We share your hope. And we will keep speaking up alongside you.
