Tamia Potter has made history as Vanderbilt University’s first Black woman neurosurgery resident in nearly a century. A Florida A&M University alumna and soon-to-be Case Western Reserve graduate, Potter’s journey reflects brilliance, perseverance, and representation in a field where only 33 Black women practice nationwide. Her achievement inspires future generations to believe no dream is out of reach.

Mississippi’s oyster population has been devastated over the past two decades, due to both natural and manmade disasters, but ninth-grader Demi Johnson is helping turn the tide. Recognized by the National Geographic Society, she’s grown 1,000+ oysters, each with the potential to spawn millions more—a huge win for marine ecosystems!

“I think the coolest thing I've learned is that oysters actually serve as a filter in the water. I did not know that. And they actually can serve as a home to over 300 species in the water,” said Johnson.

The next generation isn’t waiting to make a difference. They’re doing it now.

Guide My HEART ORG celebrated its 9th Annual Ladies in RED dinner. 🌹❤️

This year’s theme was REDefined in 2025: Project Reset. The ladies and the evening was beautiful. Thank you to all of the guests!❤️❤️❤️

This dinner was started as way to empower women, foster networking and sisterhood and get everyone fueled for the new year.

We also begin using it as a time to raise money for a single mother at Christmas.

With the help from all attendees and others who couldn’t attend but so graciously donated, we were able to bless a very beautiful single mom, Sharea and her 4 children.

She is a thriving entrepreneur who has overcome adversity of homelessness and abuse but has remained steadfast in her faith in God which brought her to Atlanta from Tipton, Ga.

I sincerely thank each of you who made it possible. God bless you all!!

More pictures from event will be shared on Guide My HEART’s page.

This has been a busy week for me doing for my angel with our angel tree at church and our Ladies in Red event, but I feel so blessed to do it. 🙏🏽❤️✝️

Guide My H.E.A.R.T.

What is Guide My H.E.A.R.T.? My name is Syreeta ShaNee' Ziegler, and I am the founder and executive director of Guide My H.E.A.R.T., a Non-Profit Organization for teen girls and women to live healthy lifestyles, build self-esteem, prevent and end unhealthy relationships while cultivating talents, growing closer to God, and fulfilling life's purpose. (Health-emotional,physical, spiritual; Energy; Ambition;Relationships-with God,self and others; Time)

Why Guide My H.E.A.R.T?After experiencing several unhealthy and broken relationships where I had been betrayed, cheated on, misused, and even emotionally abused by men who seemed to be good partners in the beginning, I began to reflect on my experiences and how each scenario, in the very beginning I would have a gut instinct telling me this person was not good for me but would not follow that voice. I came to the conclusion it takes courage and a strong sense of self worth to listen to your inner voice and leave a relationship before it is at it's worst.

I also realized how heavy these toxic relationships burdened not only my heart, but also my physical and emotional health, my good energy, affected my self perception and distracted me from my goals, ambitions, and really took time away from me achieving my purpose. The more I thought about it, it became clear that every essential part of our life is also a part of our HEART!

One day a friend and I were discussing Proverbs 4:23, "Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it." Though I had read this verse many times before, in that moment I realized why it was so important for everyone, especially women and teen girls to literally Guard Your Heart. I quickly connected the dots. The true key to guarding our hearts begins with knowing our self worth and staying connected to our purpose.
