This Sunday morning, I have been deeply challenged by a message from Pastor Bill Wilson: He was the guest preacher at World Harvest Church, GA
“YOUR COMMITMENT HAS TO BE GREATER THAN YOUR EMOTIONS”
When you pray for God to open a door, sometimes He doesn’t begin by opening the biggest door you imagined.
Sometimes little doors begin opening somewhere—and the question becomes: Will you recognize them? Will you walk through them? Will you use what God has placed behind them?
The Apostle Paul said:
“For a great and effective door has opened to me, and there are many adversaries.”
— 1 Corinthians 16:9 NKJV
As the Founder of New Beginnings International, this speaks deeply to my heart.
My burden has always been for children, youth, and young adults—to reach them early, before confusion, negative influences, destructive choices, hopelessness, and the pressures of life determine their future.
And I am learning that when God opens a door to reach even one child, one family, one neighborhood, one church, one school, or one community, I cannot despise that door because it looks small.
I must walk through it.
A DOOR OF OPPORTUNITY
An open door is an opportunity to make a difference.
Who is behind that door?
Maybe it is a child who needs someone to tell them, “You have value.”
Maybe it is a teenager who needs someone to say, “Your present circumstances do not have to determine your future.”
Maybe it is a young adult who simply needs someone to believe in them again.
Maybe it is a family that needs encouragement and support.
When the door opens, we must be ready.
A DOOR OF OBLIGATION
Opportunity also brings responsibility.
If I have prayed, “Father, use me,” then I must be willing to respond when He creates the opportunity.
I cannot ask God to open doors and then refuse to walk through them because I am tired, discouraged, afraid, disappointed, or because the opportunity does not look as significant as I expected.
My commitment must be greater than my emotions.
That is why our NBI motto continues to burn in my heart:
Catch Them Young.
Build Them Strong.
Prepare Them For Life.
Every child we reach matters.
Every conversation matters.
Every mentoring opportunity matters.
Every community matters.
Every open door matters.
A DOOR OF OPPOSITION
Paul said a great and effective door had opened—but he also said “there are many adversaries.”
An open door does not mean there will be no resistance.
Sometimes opposition is evidence that what lies beyond the door has the potential to produce real impact.
So I am learning:
Stay ready.
Stay committed.
Keep your hand on the door.
And when God opens it—GO THROUGH IT.
There may be many people standing before the same door of opportunity.
The question is:
Who is willing to go through it?
Who is willing to say, “Here I am, Lord. Use me.”
Who is willing to serve when nobody applauds?
Who is willing to start small?
Who is willing to stay in the fight?
Today, my declaration is:
TODAY IS MY DAY.
I AM STAYING IN THE FIGHT.
GOD IS NOT YET DONE WITH ME.
And as long as God continues opening doors for New Beginnings International to reach children and families, we will keep walking through them.
One child at a time.
One family at a time.
One community at a time.
Because behind one seemingly small door could be a life, a family, or an entire generation waiting for a new beginning.
Catch Them Young. Build Them Strong. Prepare Them For Life.
