Iām asking the internet for a favor today. A really important one. Iām Jenny and I volunteer with You Lucky Dog Rescue. I spent a morning with Anise at an adoption event last month and I want to share her story.
This is Anise. š¤
A year ago, Anise was hit by a car and suffered a shattered leg and broken pelvis. Amputation and euthanasia were discussed, but her foster mom refused to give up on her. Anise wanted to live, and her foster mom fought to give her that chance.
Many of you donated and helped us raise the money for her surgery. A surgeon made it happen. She made a FULL recovery.
Hereās the part that breaks our hearts: Anise has now been in her foster home for an entire year, and not one person has submitted an application for her.
Not one.
Sheās a bully breed. Sheās a black dog. And unfortunately, those are two things that can make dogs like Anise invisible in a rescue world overflowing with dogs who need homes.
šThis is my favorite part: I spent a morning with Anise at an adoption event last month, and I got to see something really special.
This girl LOVES her foster mom.
Even while she was sitting with me, her eyes kept finding her foster mom. She was always checking where her person was. And I couldnāt stop thinking about what that must mean when Anise finally gets her forever home.
If you become Aniseās person, I think youāre going to have one incredibly loyal dog. The kind who chooses you completely. The kind who wants to be by your side and be your best friend. Sheāll give you unconditional love, greet you like youāre the best part of her day, and always be waiting to welcome you home. š
Anise has been professionally trained and knows lots of commands. She could use a little leash work. She cannot live with cats or small animals and would probably do best as your one-and-only, although she may be able to live with a similar-sized, well-mannered dog. Great with kids!
She survived being hit by a car. She survived devastating injuries. She survived surgery and a long recovery.
Now she just needs someone to see her.
Please consider opening your home to Anise. If you canāt adopt her, please share this post. Send it to the person who loves the dogs everyone else overlooks.
I believe in the power of the internet.
Letās use it to get this girl home. Help us by sharing this post. š¤š¾
