Visit Inn At Home, is to provide a free service for connecting seniors who would like occasional companionship with community volunteers happy to provide such company. In time, and as its members require, My Inn At Home may extend services, based on our members needs, but, for now, Visit Inn At Home is solely committed to providing a unique on-line matching service that
will always be delivered at no charge. How does it work? Visit Inn At Home is powered by a VERY SIMPLE web site that matches our Seniors' visitation requests with Volunteers' availability. After a brief registration and background check, members are directed to monthly calendars. The seniors simply "click" on the day and time that they would like a visit. Aside from a confirmation email, there are no more computer tasks. For Volunteers, the process is similarly simple. Once registered and logged in, the Visitor (or "Visiteer") accesses upcoming calendars with flags on the days on which seniors have requested visits. A simple "click" on the day that the volunteer is available opens a window indicating the times requested. Once claimed, the Visiteer will automatically receive an email with the contact info for the senior with whom they have been paired. From there, all contact and communications is via the phone. What will we do on the visit? The structure of the visit is completely up to the Senior and the Visiteer. Some members prefer a simple visit at their home for a cup of tea and conversation, while others stretch the visit into things more interesting to them like walks in a local park, meeting for a movie, an afternoon watching football on TV, coffee at a local shop, lunch, playing cards, learning about social media (email, twitter, facebook), or a stroll around the mall. That's what makes Visit Inn At Home so fun and exciting ... It's completely up to you. What happens after the visit? A short survey will be sent to both the Senior and Visiteer after the visit is complete. The completion of that form will allow us to better tailor future programs. It will also provide a link back to the matching calendars, for the scheduling of future visits.
