When kids grow up without parents, there is a massive gap in their life education.

But something powerful is happening every Saturday in Sakété.

Our ministry is partnering with another incredible non-profit to pour knowledge, guidance, and care into the lives of the youth we get to serve. Together, we’re creating a space where they can learn, ask questions, and feel valued.

Dynamic and passionate local young leaders shared with our kids this past Saturday on the topic of time management, helping them understand how to value their time and build habits for a brighter future and the Saturday before, they met with girls to teach feminine hygiene, equipping young girls with knowledge many of us take for granted.

It’s more than just lessons—it’s mentorship, empowerment, and hope.

Did you know that in Benin, medial care is very different than in the United States or Europe?

You have to pay for all care up front, even in emergencies. During a hospital stay, you are also responsible for taking all prescriptions to the pharmacy and buying them yourself, taking all blood samples back and forth for bloodwork and providing meals and any hygiene needs. Usually, a family member needs to stay with someone at the hospital to accomplish these tasks.

A few weeks ago, our team visited a premature baby that we sent to the hospital an hour away. We helped run back and forth across the hospital to wait in three separate lines to get the antibiotics needed for this baby who had meningitis. She was in the hospital for over a month, but we are thankful that she has finally been able to go home!

This family absolutely could not have gotten medical care for this critically ill child without help. Thank you to all the donors who continue to give so that we can say “yes” to those who come to us with critical needs.

One of the awesome privileges we have is accompanying some children for medical procedures that they otherwise would not be able to have. In this last year and a half, we’ve been walking with two sweet girls who have needed heart surgeries in Europe, and three babies and toddlers needing cleft palate operations in a city several hours away.

Both types of surgeries are free through a few different organizations, but there are a lot of costs leading up to the actual operation. This includes transport to and from appointments, medical tests, medicines, and paperwork for travel.

Last week, two of these kids began their journey towards healing by starting their procedures! Two others went for appointments hoping to have a second surgery done, but were programmed for a few months from now.

Please be praying for these sweet kiddos and for successful operations and full healing.

Tree of Life USA is celebrating Christmas in Benin with Branches of Hope, and the joy has already begun! ⭐️🎉🎁

Each December, our graduated Infant Formula Program children travel to Sakété for a special Christmas celebration they eagerly look forward to all year.
This year, over 30 children will join us and receive:
* Brand-new traditional fabric
* Money to have a custom outfit made
* A brand-new toy
* Hygiene items
* A delicious Christmas meal

Our older children in the Social Assistance Program will also gather to celebrate with all the same gifts—plus worship songs, fellowship, and fun (and competitive!) group games.

In total, more than 80 children will experience fun, joy, and the true reason for the season this Christmas through Tree of Life USA’s presence in Benin.

Sweet baby girl Mikaelle had her heart operation on Wednesday! From what we know, she is still in the ICU. Please continue praying for her body to be strengthened during this fragile recovery time.

Meet the miracle that is Mikaelle.

She came to us on November 19, 2024, just 6 weeks old, after her mother suddenly died within her first month of life. We were able to help with formula and soon needed to assist with medical needs that revealed a serious heart condition that would require surgery. Unfortunately, Benin doesn’t have the capacity of performing these surgeries.

For the last year, we have provided for the medical needs for Mikaelle as she has spent alot of her days in the hospital fighting for her life. Along with another non-profit ministry, we have worked together to get Mikaelle TO FRANCE to recieve the life saving surgery that she needs.

Last week she was finally able to travel to France and TODAY… November 19, 2025, exactly one year after we first met her, she is having surgery on her heart!!! We are absolutely ecstatic to see the mountains that have been moved for this to happen for her!

Please pray with us that she has a safe surgery and is completely healed.
