We are a local non-profit organization that began in 1958. We provide foster care & adoption services For more information please call us at 989-356-4567.

We license foster homes, provide foster care case management, & adoption services in 11 counties. We offer free no obligation orientation to anyone that is interested in becoming a foster home or adoptive home. Our Day One prevention program offers help to families in their homes. The services provided education & helps to strengthen families. This program is voluntary & available for prenatal to age 24 months. Compass North meets homeless or runaway youth where they are at. The services provided to youth are life skills, host homes, and resources to promote independence. The Salvation Army of Cheboygan County is offering Angel Tree and Food Assistance Registration for families in need this holiday season.

📅 Registration Dates:
Monday, November 2nd – Wednesday, November 4th
⏰ 9:00 AM–12:00 PM & 1:00 PM–3:30 PM

🎁 Gift assistance is available for children ages 0–14.
🍎 Food assistance registration is also available.

Please remember:

💙 October is SIDS Awareness Month 💙

Every sleep is an opportunity to help keep a baby safe. October is a time to raise awareness about Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and other sleep-related infant deaths—and to remind parents, grandparents, foster parents, childcare providers, and all caregivers about the importance of safe sleep practices.

🛏️ Remember the ABCs of Safe Sleep:

👶 Alone – Baby should have their own safe sleep space, free of pillows, blankets, stuffed animals, and other soft items.

⬆️ Back – Always place baby on their back for every sleep, including naps and nighttime.

🛏️ Crib – Use a firm, flat sleep surface such as a safety-approved crib, bassinet, or play yard with only a fitted sheet.

🏠 Room Share, Don't Bed Share – Keeping baby's sleep space in your room is safer than having baby sleep in your bed.

Safe sleep practices can help reduce the risk of SIDS, accidental suffocation, and other sleep-related infant deaths. CDC

One simple reminder can make a difference: Back to sleep, every sleep. 💙

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who stopped by to see the NEMIFRC team at the Besser Museum Fall Harvest Festival! 🎃🎪

We had such a great time playing carnival games, cheering on all the kiddos, and handing out some fun prizes! 🎯🏆🎁

It was so much fun seeing all the smiling faces and enjoying a beautiful fall day with our community. 🍁🧡
