NANPA Foundation is proud to have helped support this photo blind at Prairie Creek Preserve in northern Florida. It marked our 47th blind across 29 states in the U.S.! NANPA Foundation's photo blinds grant program is one of many ways the Foundation encourages ethical nature photography in the wild.

When you visit the photo blind, tag us in your photos or send an email to [email protected].

ACT is happy to announce the opening of a new photo blind off of Prairie Creek Preserve’s yellow trail! Made possible with help from The North American Nature Photography Association-NANPA , the Florida Communities Trust, the Alachua Audubon Society, the Ridgeway Truss Roof Company, and a fantastic volunteer from a local Gainesville high school.

The photo blind overlooks one of the largest wetlands on ACT’s Prairie Creek Preserve, includes an ADA-accessible boardwalk from the trail, and has two openings to view the landscape from both sitting and standing positions.

To learn more about the preserve visit: https://www.alachuaconservationtrust.org/prairie-creek-preserve-guide. Photo by Kim Davidson. Select prints are available at kimdavidsonphotography.com though additional photos are available upon request. All proceeds from the sale of these prints go to further ACT's conservation projects.

Make sure to tag us in photos you take out on the new photo blind!

Beihua Guo of Agoura Hills, CA, received the 2020 Janie Moore Greene Scholarship Grant to continue his studies at Pitzer College. Guo moved to the United States in 2013 and was immediately drawn to the national park system and artists including Thomas Moran and Ansel Adams, as well as John Muir's efforts to promote preservation. "Growing up in Shanghai, China, a densely populated urban environment, I never experienced serene nature in my childhood," he explained.

Guo has served artist residencies in Lassen Volcanic National Park (CA), Petrified Forest National Park (AZ), and Yellowstone National Park. His studies at Pitzer have included studio art and environmental analysis, but Guo also feels a responsibility to use his nature photographs to address social and environmental issues.

"One of my main interests is water issues in the American West. My Salton Sea series explores the escalating environmental disasters triggered by human activities in the Salton Sea," he explained. "I want to use my photographs and installations to emphasize the process of extraction and excavation, as well as how human activities shape the natural and built environments."

Do you see the big picture? If you only know NANPA, and not the NANPA Foundation, then you’re only seeing part of the picture. Together, NANPA and the NANPA Foundation offer a more complete array of possibilities for the nature photography community. The NANPA Foundation turns 25 this year, but that’s not its most impressive number. Learn more about the Foundation and this partial photo you see here: http://nanpafoundation.org/do-you-see-the-big-picture/

Like most of us, Justina Martelli was not expecting 2020 to turn out like it has. She was chosen to attend NANPA Foundation's High School Scholarship Program at the Great Smoky Mountains Institute at Tremont, but when travel was halted, she found new ways to stay active as a photographer and scientist.
